At budget friendly prices this is as close as you can get to a tastefully done-up hostel near Jonker's street - a mere 500 metres away - without having to pay Jonker street's prices. Although the premises are "not on the water" it is just a stone's throw from the riverside. The surprise was the inside. I went with three friends and and at this price point for a hostel, we got more than our money's worth. On the ground floor is a separate reception area where your card key only allows access to the upper hostel floors. Upon ascending the staircase we were surprised that the interior spaces were quite large. There was a huge common room / coffee area for the backpackers to chill. We took the largest available room with the 4 double deckers in anticipation for a few more friends who might decide to crash with us later. It can fit 8 comfortably with large storage areas under the bed. Out the door is the common wash area, more than ample with rows of numerous shower/toilet stalls. Each shower stall has a commode and towel racks and the stall locks for your privacy. Like I mentioned earlier, the interior spaces are surprisingly large, and shout-outs to the owner/designer to make this into a large-living budget hostel. The other plusses were the beddings. Nothing felt "hostel" here but more like a 3 or 4 star hotel. Dare I say the smooth white sheets are made of thousand count Egyptian cotton? Two firm yet fluffy pillows are complemented by an equally fluffy comforter that would soothe the tired traveler after a walk around town. The mattresses are top notch too. In short the owners did not skimp on the rooms to ensure travellers will be well rested. We shall return!
