Only had fixed head shower

Without doubt the worst Travelodge I've ever stayed in! Situated next to a dilapidated disused service station resembling a building site, and without a hot food offering or bar, this is a shocking hotel and is to be avoided, despite the relatively cheap room rate.

The hotel is hidden behind an derelict filling station, complete with unkempt hedges and poorly maintained tarmac - not a good first impression. However, the hotel itself was fine, save for the lack of a USB socket which could catch you out if you were expecting one! The room was clean, tidy and comfortable (exactly as you’d expect from Travelodge). Polite staff.

On the way in, potholes everywhere and the surrounding area looked like a derelict place, untouched for years. The outside at the back was overgrown and unkept. Inside, our room was clean, but one light on the dressing table did not work at all. The noise from the motorways, with open window did not give much peace. The room price did not match the general outlook, or feel of the hotel.

The Markfield Travelodge we stayed at was in a shocking condition inside and out! it looks very neglected and run down with unkept grounds and abandoned buildings and I certainly will not stay there again. I didn't feel safe at all and was glad my vehicle was still there in the morning! The staff we met were friendly and I feel sorry for them working in such a sad and neglected place. The prices charged for staying here are shocking considering the state it is in and has put me off using Travelodge in the future. Only giving it 2 stars to give the staff some credit at least for working with what they've got. I'd give zero stars for the state of the building and grounds.

Arriving at this hotel you would be forgiven for thinking you are on the set of a post-apocalypse movie and staring at an abandoned hotel. Inside the bed was as comfortable as you would expect at any TRAVELODGE and the linen was clean, however the corridors, bathroom and bedroom were all quite dirty with visible dust on surfaces and stains in the floor. However tired you might be, this isn’t where you want to stop for the night.

A good no frills fair priced motel. Visitors will have to find off site establishments for food. There are is a pub restaurant about a quarter mile away, And a road side transport cafe in a container , by one of the roundabouts, Catford, i think it was called. Good value for money.

Made the mistake of seeing the 4 star overall, reading a couple of reviews and then booking a saver. Big mistake. Some of the 5 star reviews are interesting (single reviews or reviewers of multiple Travelodges. I tried to get the booking changed to another hotel but customer services eventually got back to me after I'd checked out and said it was against booking policy. I now remember why I don't use Travelodge. If you are booking at a peak time like me (Loughborough graduation) you will pay £110. If you book at another time it is £29. This should serve as a warning. This is with no breakfast, which isn't an option unless you overpay for a "breakfast bag" (see other reviews) or use the overpriced vending machine in the reception for crisps and a chocolate bar. As you may have seen from other reviews, the hotel is next to a derelict service station. Nothing around it at all. Take the first exit off the roundabout (the sign is obscured by weeds) and you are then in the crater filled car park, and you realise this won't be great. Fair play to the people drinking next to their vehicles but it doesn't add to the atmosphere. Welcome at reception ok, but then downhill. Everything is dirty. Litter in the hallways, strong smell of smoke in the corridors and it all looks tired and in need of a major refurb which won't happen given the location. The room size was ok. But the linen had seen better days and the bed had been made with little care. Walls were wafer thin, pillows were a choice of hard or rock hard. Mattress actually ok. If you need somewhere to eat Markfield is 1.5 miles away. We had a drink in the Queen's Head which was a relief after check in. There are some restaurants (Balti One a local fave) and a Co-op for supplies. Thankfully we only stayed for about 12 hours. £110? You're having a laugh Travelodge.

Stayed here one night and would not recommend. The hotel is next to a closed down service and petrol station which provides a very apocalyptic feel to the place and means there are no nearby facilities. People were gathered outside it drinking alcohol as we arrived which made us feel uncomfortable. Entrance road into car park in bad disrepair, beware of the craters. There is a good sized car park though. Our room smelt badly of cigarettes. It was clean enough but we had no hot water for the whole evening of our stay and it took the best part of an hour to find a receptionist to be able to report it to. Hot water only became available in the morning. We won't be returning.

This Travelodge is located on a roundabout next to the M1 but is effectively in an abandoned area as the former petrol station and retail units are boarded up. The grounds are overgrown, litter strewn and filthy. The room in the hotel was clean enough but it is totally run down as an area and unpleasant. I had a terrible nights sleep on account of the night staff at the hotel banging about in the early hours on the stairs and banging doors. Avoid at all costs, there is nothing around the hotel other than rubbish, overgrown foilage and graffiti.

Unfortunately not well maintained. Smell of room was terrible. Only redeeming point was the lovely reception guy. Bharma (I think. Looked, ethnically Indian/Pakistani).

Very shabby and dirty. Reception area was very inviting. The room had an awful smell, bathroom was grubby, bath had mould growing around the edges and shower curtain had mould along the edges.
