馬切爾固羅海灘小屋

Un lodge sur la plage, découvert par bateau depuis Maputo. Une impression d’être seuls au monde, sur une île. Une plage de sable fin sans fin…une mangrove visitée en kayak, du Snorkeling. Un séjour apaisant, en dehors du monde, dans un lieu qu’on aimerait garder secret mais que l’on partage car tout le personnel, et notamment José, le manager, mérite d’être connus. Je recommande vivement.

Wir durften 1 Woche in dieser Lodge verbringen, hatten Bungalow 1 mit traumhaften Blick auf den Ozean. Ein großer Raum mit Sitzgelegenheit, großes Badezimmer, eine schöne Terrasse und sehr gepflegt. Dadurch dass es sich um eine Halbinsel handelt, ist es etwas feucht, die Handtücher trocknen nicht, also bitte täglich wechseln, auch die Wäsche ist feucht, das bitte müssen sie in Kauf nehmen. So, also von Maputo ca. 75 Minuten mit dem Boot auf die Insel. Wenns stürmt kann die Überfahrt schon mal zum Abenteuer werden, dann die Ankunft: Schuhe ausziehen und hops rein ins Wasser, auf den Strand, wo schon das Team singend und tanzend wartet. Kurze Einführung, das Personal trägt die Koffer die 210 Stufen auf dem Kopf ins Zimmer. Was kann man dort machen?? Schnorcheln, Kajak fahren, stundenlang am Strand spazieren ohne dass einem jemand begegnet. Um 18h wirds finster, um 19h Abendessen.... und jetzt kommts!!! Das BESTE Essen welches ich je in einem Ressort bekommen habe. Steirereck mal 3! Unglaublich was die dort zaubern an Fisch und Meeresfrüchten. Vielen Dank hierfür!!! Es war eine wunderschöne Woche. Un cadre idyllique, une équipe aux petits soins et une restauration de très bonne qualité. Les chambres sont très propres, et très belle. Possibilité de faire des balades sympathiques sur l’île et plusieurs spots sympas pour regarder les étoiles.

I had been dreaming and saving to go to Machangulo Lodge since I visited Inhaça Island about 8 years ago. I finally was able to go, and take my husband and 3 year old child for my husband’s 40th birthday. Knowing full well that the booking was non-refundable, I was committed to going, for 2 nights, which is what I could afford. Firstly, nowhere before making the booking, does it state that the transfer to the lodge would cost an additional $80 per person per way (the child going free, which was something) (unless I missed it but think this should be very clear when making the booking). No information was provided about parking at the Marina, transfers, etc. Once we asked we did get information, although this should be forthcoming due to the nature of the accommodation. Secondly, and the main reason why I give the poor rating is that I got incredibly ill, despite all attempts, and was unable to travel there (and in particular since this is a remote destination). Despite this, the lodge outright was unwilling to even discuss possible rescheduling the trip, and showed no understanding whatsoever. Perhaps finding a way when such as if there was another last-minute cancellation, or anything really, would have been appreciated. I am deeply disappointed, and would have paid the additional costs for the experience, but am surprised at how uninterested and unwilling this Lodge was to be able to cater for this unexpected situation. Again, while I understand the conditions of non-refunds, and the fact that lodge is small, I would think that they could find it in their heart to be more accommodating in such an event. This is standard practice. I was so excited to come, and was raving about this place before coming, but now, unfortunately, I could never recommend this lodge. Its too risky.

We loved all about Machangulo Beach Lodge since the very beginning. The welcoming staff, the location, the food and the service were all excellent. The booking process was smooth and the boat transfer very well organized. The spacious sea facing rooms with outdoor shower were privately secluded on a dune hill facing the blue of the Mozambican channel. The range of day trips allowed us to get to know the local culture and the nearby islands. The food and service was excellent. I wish I could stay longer. The lodge is a guarantee for a success holiday.

I wish there was a 6-star option because five stars simply aren’t enough to describe how incredible this paradise-like lodge is. From the breathtaking views, perfect private beach, delicious food, gorgeous rooms, amazing adventure options and beyond wonderful staff, expectations are exceeded from the moment you step foot off the boat and onto the exquisite beach. I’d like to give a big shout out to the people who made this holiday all the more special. Thank you to Jose, Paulo, Claudio and Lidia - you made us feel so at home and we couldn’t be more grateful for your kindness.
