My old school friend and I met up for a night to catch up as we live 200 miles apart. We have both just become pensioners and we are not particularly big drinkers but when we were told to leave the bar at 9.45 before it was closed at 10 we found ourselves with half a bottle of Pino Blush and nowhere to sit as the Morning Room (only other space) was fully occupied by a wedding party, we were also directed to the 'conservatory' which was basically a corridor leading to the bedrooms. NB the bar area is really lovely-dark blue walls and a relaxed vibe-it is presumably meant to invite guests to sit in there! In the end we took out drinks outside in the drizzle and put up an umbrella to keep the rain off. The bar person Anthony (who had a friendly approach) said it was 'the owner' who insisted on the bar closure, and that it was a regular thing. Even on a Friday night? I felt sorry for him as he was clearly used to having this conversation with bemused guests. If I had know this I would not have booked the Beechfield as the whole purpose was for us to talk till late together. We had separate rooms both at nearly £300 for the night, it is unheard of to close the bar so early in a hotel that purports to be luxury level. There should be a warning about this!

The hotel is in a quiet location, and our room "Apple" was clean and well appointed, overlooking the pool and patio area. We arrived early but the staff were very helpful and our room was available. We managed to get a bed around the pool which was great. However, an "anniversary party" took place that afternoon, so all the tables and chairs in the patio area became full. There was no room for hotel guest, and we waited nearly 30 minutes for a tea and coffee. Our "package" included dinner, but the menu is very limited and expensive, and only covered a single course ( service is added to everything, despite the long delays). We travel a lot, but would not return here. If you are thinking of visiting, would suggest you check if an "event" is taking place, or take your own chairs! Also, check your bill, as if you underspend at dinner, the hotel keeps the difference!

I came here for a chilled pool day by myself, it was glorious weather. I was greeted by a lovely young lady, who took me to the pool where my lounger was reserved with free toiletries, slippers, bottle of water and towels and robe. She then got me a glass of champagne ready for when I was changed and pool ready! I had the pool to myself and it was bliss, surrounded by an abundance of beautifully sweet smelling roses and nice background music being played, it was lush! The whole hotel is beautiful, the gardens are stunning and it really was the perfect way to spend the day, reading a good book. The staff were all lovely and very attentive, I couldn’t have asked for better service from them, especially the two young ladies in the morning/early afternoon. The hours flew past and I got a healthy tan, I would highly recommend a pool day here for a sunny day if you just want to chill.

Absolutely perfect stay from start to finish!!! The team, food, room, pool, the grounds - everything was amazing and wonderful. Would absolutely recommend to anyone! We enjoyed the pool and the lovely weather. We had a delicious dinner on one night and a lovely afternoon tea and next day. Breakfast was hot and tasty. Would return tomorrow

We only stayed here one night and found it to be really nice, food was lovely staff very welcoming, our room was spotless the bedding was amazing so comfortable and clean, room smelt nice the grounds are so well kept, did not have chance to go in the pool but looked really nice and clean, would stay here again.

Visited the restaurant for lunch at the end of September and were treated to an amazing meal. We booked under a Travelzoo offer and thought this might reflect in the standard/quantity of food on offer but am happy to say this wasn't the case at all! Everything was presented beautifully and was so good to eat. Our offer was for three courses but we did struggle to finish everything on our plates! The staff at Beechfield House are very attentive (without being too much so) and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant area was immaculate and the furnishings and decor are everything you would expect from a high quality country house hotel. Will definitely be returning soon.

Had a voucher for afternoon tea. Sandwiches were uninspiring and at least 2 fingers short. Waitress wasn’t very knowledgeable. Didn’t know what sandwich fillings we were getting, and no offer of bread choice. In her defence, she did ask about allergies. On a positive note, the scones & pastries were excellent, and the hotel very comfortable.

What a great relaxing place. Staff especially Elaine so friendly and made such a pleasant stay. Food outstanding, especially the onion bhaji starter, compliments to chef. Clean tidy rooms. If you have the weather what more can you ask for. Beautiful place

Just returned from a lovely two night stay at the Beechfield House. Fantastic house with beautiful gardens. We received a very warm and friendly welcome on arrival and stayed in Pear on the second floor overlooking the pool. The room was very comfortable with everything we needed. Good quality thick towels and robes. Shower was over the bath so can be a bit tricky for some people and we could have done with additional storage for our toiletries etc. We had dinner both nights in the private dining room with our friends which was very relaxing and we didn't need to worry about disturbing other guests! We could not fault the service at dinner and breakfast. Unfortunately at check out, however, there was a mix up with our bill which did take a while to sort out. It may be prudent to sign for drinks/wine ordered at the bar to avoid items being allocated to the wrong room and there is a service charge added to everything.

Just returned from an excellent stay at Beechfield house . All the staff were so friendly and made our visit extra special. Our room Larch was lovely a little dark but cosy with all the amenities you need and had the thickest whitest towels I’ve ever had in any hotel . Unfortunately the weather let us down so did not get to use the outdoor pool but what a beautiful area and pool . Breakfast and evening meal were plentiful and of a high standard . Thank you to everyone at Beechfield house we will be back .

5 star property and setting - excellent heated outdoor pool. Very accommodating to families. Restaurant was good, but probably not 2 rosette worthy. For the money, though, absolutely fine. Only downside was our room - above the kitchens - was an oven. Fortunately fixed with a fan and wide open windows. Avoid the room “Pine”

A charming little hotel, we stayed for 1 night while visiting Longleat Safari Park. Nice room (a little hot at night, there's no A/C, but still a nice big room of a high standard), the swimming pool was great. Has the feel of staying in an old country mansion, we enjoyed it.

Excellent location and hotel. Warm and friendly reception staff. Ate from the lunchtime special menu. Delicious food at a reasonable price with good portions . Attentive and considerate waitress. Coffee in the lounge. My wife and I plus 2 friends thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

We spent 2 nights at Beechfield House as part of a Secrets Escape deal which included an upgrade to a Comfy Room, breakfast included, £35 dinner credit per person on the first night and a cream tea each. We stayed in Sycamore which was on the top floor of the main house with great views over the garden, pool and countryside. The room was very spacious and well-appointed, it looked like it had been recently decorated. Large king size bed, iron and board, hair dryer, safe, TV, coffee machine and kettle and a fridge. There was also a dressing table and coffee table and two person sofa. Free wi-fi throughout. Dinner was very nice, we ate outside. Decent selection at breakfast with plenty of cooked options, again you can eat outside. Cream tea was good. Breakfast is served 08.00 to 10.00 and dinner is 18.00 to 20.30. The pool opens from 08.00 and whilst it is heated is a touch on the cool side. The grounds to the hotel are really attractive and nicely maintained. Melksham is 10-15 minutes walk away down the main road however there is a more scenic route through fields which takes a little bit longer. I would say one of the best things about this hotel is the staff. Special mention much go to Michael and Cally at dinner and Milly and Charlie at breakfast. Nothing was every too much trouble and they did everything with a smile on their face.
