For the price, this is an incredible find! The bathrooms are attached to the villa room, but are in an enclosed outdoor space. Surprisingly, the bugs were not bad, but some prophylactic Deet while sitting outside at their restaurant is smart. Wi-Fi is weak, so this is a great place to disconnect and enjoy nature. We also enjoyed our personal balcony overlooking the jungle while sipping our morning tea.

I selected Hantara udawalawe for 1 night stay. From the welcoming till departure they done the perfect services. Large room with rain shower I really like to stay one more day. Next time I will select Hantara for long stay. Foods and drinks excellent. Very calm full location. To my UK friends I send this message "If you visit udawalawe this is the property to stay " Thank for all services and best of luck to Hantara.

We were greeted by a very welcoming team, and the highlight of our stay was the delicious, high-quality homemade Sri Lankan cuisine. The bed was the most comfortable we’ve experienced so far on our trip, providing great rest. However, the room had some downsides, including outdoor bathrooms and very basic amenities. While the overall experience was pleasant, the room could definitely benefit from a more thorough cleaning.

Location: The hotel is located 15 minutes away from Udawalawe National Park. Be aware that the access road is unpaved, which can be challenging during bad weather. The small property has only 6 rooms. A significant drawback is the nearby club that plays loud music at night, making it difficult to enjoy the natural surroundings. Room: Basic accommodation with two twin beds, an old cupboard, table, and an open-air bathroom. Major issues include: A rat infestation - we had one actively running around our room and roof all night, making sleep impossible Frequent power outages during the day No air conditioning or Wi-Fi during blackouts, making the room uncomfortably hot in muggy weather Safari: The hotel arranges safaris for 8500 LKR (3 hours). Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by an aggressive driver who constantly pressured us for tips from pickup through the entire tour. Service: The hotel is severely understaffed with just one person handling all roles (manager, server, and housekeeper). This means you'll often have to search the property to find help, as there's rarely anyone at the front desk. Dining: While the food is tasty, portion sizes are inconsistent. During our stay, portions varied significantly from meal to meal. Some juices, advertised as fresh juice, were clearly not fresh. Very quaint and secluded property very close to the safari park. Individual cabins were very spacious, great AC, private porch for sitting and the outdoor shower and bathroom was very cool! The staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. There is not much to do out in the wilderness but after a no day of safari it was nice to go to Hantara to relax.

Beautiful place in the middle of Jungle. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good great! My 2. time in Uduwalawe and my favorite one. Distance to the Park very short. If you make the Safari tour early in the morning you can have late breakfast which is very relaxing. Nice clean and big room with wonderful chill outside. The open bathroom is the highlight. The place is nature and relax.

Our experience in Hantara Udawalawe was amazing thanks to the staff. We want to give a special mention to Charith and Amila who were so friendly, kind and make us feel at home. This place is so nice and very calm, perfect to relax in nature, enjoy the silence and go for a safari in Udawalawe National Park. The hotel arranged everything so the jeep picked us up very early in the morning to have a 3 hours tour. We highly recommend it!
