孟山多別墅民宿(Casas da Villa- Monsanto)

Vale a pena. Simpatia, higiene. Monsanto revela ser uma pobre zona turistica. Nada tem, a não ser optima paisagem e hospedagens bem conseguidas. Não existe nada aberto para comer. Fomos a Idanha-a-Nova e foi maravilhoso, Restaurante Casa da Velha Fonte e Restaurante Helana.

We arrived early, and luckily the concierge arrived 20 minutes later as we were in 31 degree heat. Did not realise we had to phone ahead. It is among very, very steep cobbled paths. No parking facility. However, we were made to feel very welcome. The welcome pack was gratefully received. This really is a self catering unit as there are no good restaurants in monsanto and the kitchen is well equipped. Unfortunately, we were right opposite a long term building site, (started 2019) with building materials against our wall and dug up pathway. No activity on site while we were there. We loved the peacefullness of the area, but can imagine it could get busy as monsanto is a tourist attraction. Shout out to the local grocer, he even supplied us four potatoes from his own supply!

Adoramos a estadia nas Casas da Villa! Espaço magnífico e muito bem cuidado. Sendo a Casa da Oliveira confortável e acolhedora (o frigorífico podia ser um pouco maior...). A anfitriã fez-nos sentir em casa com sua simpatia e hospitalidade. Excelente proposta de alojamento para quem visita Monsanto e aquela bela região da Beira Baixa.

Nice location. We were in off season so very limited restaurants and shopping.Very beautiful town with incredible views. Not sure if parking is accessible in high season. The villa is very high in the village so not accessible we a car.

Lovely property. The amenities were fine however the one air con unit for heating was not sufficient for the size of the room. The distance you have to park from the unit is really uncomfortable for getting luggage there. The delivery of freshly cooked bread rolls in the morning is a lovely touch.

What a dream We immediately fell in love with this area and property. The views cannot truly be captured by a camera or words but let me try …. Breathtaking. The feel is comfortable and relaxed. We were greeted by hotel (I wish I recalled his name, I’m sorry) who showed us everything and even lead us back down to a grocery store to pick up dinner food !! Wow Fresh bread delivered in the morning. This is a great place to disconnect from the world and just enjoy tranquility. Oh ya and the castle is a short walk up a hill and it’s stunning ! Wear good shoes and prepare to do some walking … you’ll be be having so much fun, you’ll forget the incline.

Monsanto is enchanting. We stayed one night but an extra night would have been ideal. The apar**ent is basically built into massive boulders with lots of rustic charm and unlike any B&B. Snacks, drinks and fruit were stocked for breakfast and fresh bread arrived in the morning. Sunday night in Monsanto was extremely quiet once the sun went down. We could only find one restaurant open which was a bit pricey and meat-centric. Instead we found a small café, bought a few beers and made due with fruit and cheese for dinner. Just something to keep in mind for your planning. The B&B has a small kitchen so very easy to prepare a simple meal. Finding this place is challenging. As in other reviews, it is recommended to park at the entrance of Monsanto (small lot by the cannons or on the hill leading to town) and walk to the Villa with a backpack of essentials. Do not walk a wheelie suitcase into town. We messaged the host about an hour out and upon arriving to Monsanto spotted the car with the Villa logo and hailed it. We were walked to the apar**ent and given the keys. The views from Monsanto are breathtaking. One can walk up to the castle ruins and watch the sunset and wander around. Enjoy the cobblestone streets, flowers, cats, wild rock formations and endless views.

Loved the rustic decor and the huge boulders making up part of the apar**ent. The accommodations had everything you could possibly need, in fact more, as there was a large variety of fruit, beverages, and other edibles. The view from the balcony was indescribably beautiful. We are seniors celebrating our 47 anniversary and were delighted with this spot.❤️
