There was nothing good about this property at all. It is untidy, run down, with rude staff and should be avoided by anyone visiting Monterey. We booked our room several months in advance, and was put in a room that was next to the front door, foyer and breakfast area. We checked in at 3.00pm. When I asked if we could be moved, the young lady on the desk was dismissive and extremely rude in her tone, when I asked if I could speak to the manager, she simply replied he was not on the property at this time and that due to renovations in some rooms nothing could be done. Obviously the front desk did not tell the manager I was not satisfied, as we never heard from them. We could hear the humming of the juice machine through the wall all night and then the commotion created by staff setting up for the breakfast from around 5.30am, then the noise generated from other hotel guests having breakfast from 6.00am. As this is a pet friendly hotel, the room smelt of dog and the settee/lounge was a disgrace and should either be deep cleaned or thrown out. The mattress (king bed) was old and lumpy and had a pronounced dip in the middle, which made for an extremely uncomfortable night. We selected this hotel based on the ******* ratings, however on this occasion they were way off. Do not take any notice of the photo's provided by the hotel for this property as they are not a true representation of what to expect. We paid a premium price for a below standard hotel.

Extremely noisy. I was given a room that faces the front and had to open windows for cool air as there's no air conditioning. It faces a busy street so there's no escaping the noise. These rooms should be discounted. The doors are extremely heavy and you hear slamming every time someone enters/leaves their room. Mattresses aren't good for people with disabilities. They're too high and aren't stable. Policy has to be enforced with people leaving their dogs in the room that continuously bark. Breakfast area is too small for the number of people that are trying to get their food. It's utter chaos.

I am a best western club member. I was assigned a very poorly located room which I asked to change. The person in charge said they were full. I spent a very sleepless night because of the room location. When I asked the desk clerk the next day she told me they had 3-4 rooms vacant. Very poor service!!!

1. It took 4 trips to the front desk to get a key that worked. 2. The bathtub had an enormous clump of hair & old, used soap (clearly not cleaned). 3. No AC (my fault for missing that), no fan (as promised in the listing). 4. The elevator was making loud noises & my firefighter husband thought it was unsafe. 5. The bed had an old mattress that had a huge crater in the middle. 6. As we were checking in we overheard a lady saying “RVing is looking better and better right now” which totally sums it up.

While the welcoming receptionist was very kind and accomodating the rest of the property lacked comfort and inviting hospitality. The room is quite spacious facing the street, so traffic noise can be heard. The heater in the wall is an older model but it still works. Internet is okay without any issues. The rooms are quite dated and lack inviting and comfortable decor. There is a strong unpleasant dog smell coming into the room which is quite off-putting. The bed was not comfortable at all and I could hardly sleep the two nights I was there. Also the breakfast was very disappointing with only breads and pastry options and some fruits. The location is far away from the Monterey wharf so you will need a car for sure. Parking was free and easy. The building comes equipped with an elevator. Unfortunately I would not stay here again.

The staff was very friendly and helpful but when we got into the room and inspected the bed, it was infested with bed bugs, blood stains, and a large hole in the mattress.

It was such a great stay! The room was very clean, and the staff was so friendly. The breakfast area was also very clean and always stocked. The area is safe and parking was plentiful. We had 2 rooms that were connected. Whenever the kids were wiped out from our daily adventures, they would ask to "go home", meaning the hotel. They were quite comfortable there, too. To save money on vacation, I always pack easy meals like sandwich stuff and microwave mac and cheese. The fridge and microwave were put to good use.
