Best service and delicious menu!! Denise was so awesome and recommended great dishes! I had the Chilean Seabass my son had filet mignon (mom this is amazing) my husband had the pork. It was worth the lil ride we took! Enjoy a great dinner w family and wonderful ambiance

I really enjoy the JAI. It’s charming, unique and has a lot to offer… but this review is going to be about a lack of attention to detail… 1) cleanliness - there were stains on the carpet, air vents that were gross and clearly neglected for a really long period of time, broken blinds, water damage in some common areas of buildings like the Thomas Wilson House, a ton of areas that noticeably needed to be touched up with paint, very worn furniture. All of these things are so easily fixable that it drives me bonkers when they’re just there in plain sight. How much effort does it take to clean or replace an air vent that is noticeably black and covered in thick dust? How much time and effort does it take to touch up a wall full of scuff marks and chipped paint? There is so much potential here, just super frustrating for a place that is 200 a night. 2) training - some of the staff probably needs some retraining. From hostesses to wait staff, my wife and I just couldn’t wrap our heads around some of the communication/lack of communication. Like, we literally had to ask our waiter if there were specials and what the specials were. For some reason, we didn’t get water glasses. Instead our wine glasses were filled with water. Just stuff you wouldn’t expect at a place where we spend 150$ on dinner. We’ll be back, it’s a great getaway. But really wish some of the details were not overlooked as much as they appear to be.

Always delicious. A local gem for us. Lovely setting. Dependably delicious food. The filet mignon is our go to meal here. So perfectly cooked and so tender. Since we live nearby we have even gotten the filet dinner as take out. We love it here!!

Our stay at the Joseph Ambler Inn was disappointing. The property is beautiful and the landscaping is well maintained, but our room had a damp and musty smell. I think it needed a good cleaning. We expected nicer accommodations. There were cobwebs in the lampshades and along the floor in the bathroom. The AC unit was dirty. We definitely won’t stay here again.

This place is amazing! It is very clean, safe and friendly. Weekend breakfast is amazing. I will stay here again when in town. It felt like being home in the 1800s, with all of the modern perks. I highly recommend this place. We stayed in the farmhouse, make sure to walk around while you are there, lots to see.

Staying here makes you feel like you are back in time. I have been coming here for years nd just Love it! The beds are super comfortable, the rooms are clean, the jacuzzi tubs are relaxing and the fireplace is soothing. I enjoy having a porch. There are a lot of weddings here and it’s nice to sit outside and watch. When you are here, you feel like you are on a vacation to relax, enjoy the scenery and have the best meal at the restaurant. I have always enjoyed everything I have eaten here. My personal favorite is the Champagne Chicken. Oh…. and if you take a walk around and look at the Old Buildings and Houses, you may see or feel a few entities still roaming the grounds. You won’t be disappointed visiting this place! Enjoy!

This is a collection of historic buildings (mid 18th century) updated with new but historically compatible additions. It is a wonderful escape from the unpleasantness of suburban Philadelphia. The grounds are stunningly beautiful. There is a fine restaurant and pub with indoor and outdoor seating options (reviewed separately by me and it is great!) Rooms are very commodious. Ours had a very nice bath area where there was a large shower stall, sink and wash counter and the other necessity! In the main bedroom there is a tub with jets. WiFi and a flat screened TV is provided. I think there should be a bedside table on both sides of the bed. And I do understand the staffing problems and I have stayed at other places that have them but they tell you there will be no linen/towel changes. Most do tell you that you can ask for this. But there was no such notice here. We managed of course. Perhaps this is the "new normal"? Complimentary breakfast was SPLENDID! Wonderful lay out - beautiful fruit, pastries, scones, eggs, bacon, waffles - All served on the patio outside the restaurant or wherever you choose to take it..

I was attending a 60th high school reunion and staying the night before and the night after the event. The setting is a cluster of buildings on what must have been a farm. It reminded me of a small college campus. Most of the buildings were ancient with date stones like 1735 and 1820 but all nicely modernized inside. It was a very comfortable and relaxing environment popular as a wedding venue. Our event was in the John Roberts house and we had a nice buffet lunch and had the building for the rest of the day in which to socialize. Our room was very comfortable with 2 exceptions. It was on the second floor up some very narrow and steep steps and the A/C was adequate but marginal. We preferred it colder than it could achieve. The buffet breakfast on the weekends was good but not exceptional. Outdoor seating at the restaurant was very comfortable on a warm summer night.

The hot water in the shower did not work during the entire weekend that I was there. There was a black scum along the bottom of the shower door frame. There were ants in the kitchen area. The staff member in the registration office was rude and unhelpful.
