I booked the room 29 with own bathroom, I arrived before 8pm. Nice lady at reception, very kind and welcoming. At around 9pm when I was outside my room I noticed a man with backpack looking into the rubbish bins - he then continue walking past me staring at me. I was on the phone with my friend and told her I feel uncomfortable because of this. I kept her on the phone and decided to pack my bags and leave the park. I went to reception and called after hours because I also didn’t just want to leave my key for the room in this box where anyone could grab it out from (liabilty incase someone goes then in my room, after I left). The after hours guy came, was apologetic however seem not to know how to ensure me I can stay safe because there is no security over night and random people can enter at any time due to no gate or night security . I asked for a refund but was told I could not get one. I left 204$ poorer, felt not safe and heard/understood. I stayed at various other top10 holiday parks all over New Zealand in the past but this was the only one where I felt not safe. Maybe it’s the area “Motueka”and some of the people waking around at night. I would wish for the future and I for other guests, especially solo female and families with children a night security guard.
