Nice views and friendly staff

This is a hard review to write, and I have been dreading it. Until the final hour, we had a pleasant stay, and the owners were very nice to us. The family room worked well for us. But as we were packing up to leave, we were outside on the large upper deck and witnessed an altercation between the owner and a Black Uber driver. He started cursing at the driver for having trouble getting up their very steep and difficult driveway (which the owner's wife had to help my husband drive up the previous day when we arrived). The altercation got very ugly and by the end, the Uber driver's car door was dented, and we felt terrible for him. We also texted with the owner's wife after we hurriedly packed up and left, and she was completely defensive: It had nothing to do with the fact that he was a Black driver! (Meaning they would have treated a poor white Uber driver the same? I didn't understand. It was so shockingly different from how we, as guests, were treated for doing the exact same thing.) If they don't want people attempting their steep dangerous driveway because they are worried about skid marks (!), they can put a sign at the bottom. But obviously that wasn't all that was going on. Writing this review makes me relive the awful experience that was also witnessed by my teenagers – who understood exactly what was going on. It was an eye opening glimpse into post-apartheid South Africa, but it wasn't pleasant, and unless you are okay with people who treat other people this way, I wouldn't recommend staying here and patronizing their business. [I still have the whole text chain on my phone if any TripAdvisor personnel need to see it to confirm that this was my family's personal and actual experience upon leaving this establishment.]

My second visit to lakeside and I was again impressed. Cleanliness, beautiful views, friendly staff and i have requested meals to be prepared and it was great. this place is highly recommended for any occasion

My room was very clean and very comfortable. WiFi access was also uninhibited. The guesthouse was nice and quiet, and I was received with a warm welcome. This is not an overly fancy venue, but at the price, it is very well equipped with a lovely views, being on a raised elevation. I did have to park on the road, as there was not sufficient parking on the property, but my car was safe throughout the night.

Staff members were very friendly and accomodative. I enjoyed my stay and definitely will recommend to others. It was very quiet at night of which I enjoyed .recommation:aircon and Dstv.The view was perfect and the nice pool

Arrived by mistake for one night, and ended up staying for two weeks. Rooms are big and clean, kitchen is clean, and most important, all the guests are friendly, quite and nice . Karlien the manager helped me with very nice tips for muizenberg and the area, location is perfect.

If I could give 10 stars I would, Lakeside Lodge has a place in my heart. First of all the kindest people I have ever come across in my travels. They went out of their way to show us the local spots and make sure we tried everything from Black Label to chicken livers. Such a well-put-together lodge, from the services to the furniture, it was all so tasteful. Please, if you are looking for the authentic local experience of beautiful Cape Town, stay at Lakeside, you will not find a better experience anywhere else! Thank you guys for everything.

It was an absolute joy to stay at the Lakeside Lodge! Everyone, from the owners to the staff, are helpful, friendly and made one feel part of the family. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The bathrooms could do with a makeover but all was in working order.

I had such an excellent hospitality service . All good and would surely come back and also recommend others to come stay there lovely people lovely place lovely time . Cozy place on the outside nice swimming pool and a beautiful mountain at the window scenery
