We booked the family room 2 weeks prior to arrival on busy Sunday night of long weekend. 3 adults and 1 child. Received a phone call from motel asking our expected arrival time, told them another 45 minutes, eta 5.15pm, then received a email invoice immediately. On arrival paid, keys presented and went to find our room. All rooms are facing the pool area, it looks busy! Adults drinking alcohol and kids having fun, looks a large group. Arrive to room 1….cigarettes and alcohol on outdoor table, room unlocked and obviously already filled with unmade beds and luggage around the room. Completely taken aback! Management had no idea, they told us the occupants were supposed to have moved! Housekeeper even had no idea, makes me wonder about housekeeping. We are finally offered Room 18….not enough bedding for 3 adults and 1 child. So we take it as no other accommodation is available in Yarrawonga /Mulwala over long weekend. Off we go to dinner, only to find on return….a person in our room!! Either Management have no idea what’s going on or Bogans overtook the complex on the long weekend. Absolutely disgusted with outcome and expectations, place looked grimy, outdated and smells heavily of cigarettes. Stay away…..spent the night in Rutherglen……decent, clean and hospitality 100%.

We have stayed here multiple times previously and always been very happy with our stay. Location is great especially if you are wanting to visit The Mulwala Ski Club, we had room 1 this time which was lovely and had a great view of the lake however the overall presentation of the hotel was not to standard. Some basic cleanliness expectations were not met (clearly previously used bath mat), the mattresses could do with a replacement, as well as the now sad looking pool area where everything is ripped, damaged and genuinely unkempt. This motel has so much potential and during our previous stays was always immaculate, sadly is not the same anymore, as regular visitors to the area you can certainly stay somewhere else for the same price and better presentation.

Without a doubt the worst experience. The smoke detector had been removed; the television only worked occasionally and did not get free to air; room service / towel exchange was not existent. Enquiries to reception - 'not my job'. The room had not been cleaned properly in many months - the dust on the skirtings could be picked off with a knife. Very loud and dirty air conditioner. This is only my experience, but others in the group had similar experiences. Future golf trips (40 people) will not be staying at Capricorn Motor Inn.

Beds way to soft. Time for a makeover. Position great. Right next door to club and ski club walking distance. View of the lake beautiful. Comfortable rooms, pool right outside your door. Reception lady very helpful and friendly. Nice stay for Australia day
