慕尼黑市場酒店(Hotel am Markt)

The hotel is well located and right in the middle of the market (I guess hence the name). Don’t miss the breakfast, it is really good!

Our third stay at this hotel (since 2010) but definitely our last. On arrival we found the mattress was dirty with hairs on it. Gross. The guy at the front desk was a temp and didn’t know what to do, eventually managed to find the linen cupboard but was so under-trained that he didn’t give a set of sheets to my wife, so she had to go down twice to get enough clean sheets for us. In the morning the normal guy at the front desk was rude and unapologetic, immediately suggesting a 10% discount to shut us up as though that makes up for a night of sleeping in a bed that you’re disgusted to be in. Perhaps he is used to hearing this? His condescending attitude was unacceptable.

In mid December the airport in Munich was closed due to ice on the runways. As a result we were unable to get to Munich, where we were booked in this hotel a few days after our planned arrival. We notified the hotel four days before the date we were due to check in. In the following days the hotel insisted that we pay the full cost of our two night stay, around 300 euros. A bit unfriendly for my taste, and we will not book at this hotel again.

This hotel is in a great area. The hotel staff were pleasant. However the room was tiny. It was only about 12’ wide by 14’ long. The bathroom was tiny too. There were no amenities at the property. No lobby to sit in, no bar. There was a small restaurant attached but you need a reservation. For what they have to offer, it’s extremely overpriced. We could hear others’ conversations clearly thru the wall.

Die Lage des Hotels ist erstklassig! Das Frühstück war prima und die Zimmer waren sehr sauber. Es war abends bis ca. 22:30 Uhr etwas lauter, aber das ist bei der Lage ja quasi selbstredend. Nachts war alles ruhig und man konnte gut schlafen.

We stayed here for the Christmas market period and it didn't disappoint. A couple of hundred yards from the Marienplatz UBahn exit and located in the market place. Lovely simple rooms but the bathroom in 102 is ok only for contortionists. We didn't have breakfast which is partnered with the restaurant next door, and we weren't able to get a drink there either which is strange. We stayed an extra 2 nights as there was a snowfall of 40cm and flights were cancelled. The staff were very helpful with rearranging the booking. Ideal location for walking around the city centre.

We stayed in basic double room. The room was small, the front staff didn’t seem to care, the cleaners did as the room was always very clean. The location is why we stayed here and might stay again. The price relative to its amazing location in the old town that opens right into the Viktual Markt is the reason to stay here. Don’t stay here thinking it’s is a great hotel, it’s not, but for what you pay for the location is really the only reason.

We liked the central location with still reasonable price. Overall very clean with comfortable, modern rooms.
