A good stay.

The Calvinia Hotel and interesting landmarks. I wrote a review earlier but have a few photos. A really quaint and very clean town. The people of Cavinia take pride in there town. We found the people young and old so polite and friendly was so wonderful . You will see a photo of when the shops close the streets are empty and clean. The Badgers Restaurant at the Calvinia Hotel is wondeful great food and friendly staff.

The bar is loud and we just want to sleep. The dinner was below anything I have ever experienced! Had lamb chops thinner than bacon served by a waitron that certainly didn't want to be there!!!

The locals in the bar drank and made such a noise until 01h30 in the morning. Local Guesthouses much better deal and there are quite a few in town.Only after phoning reception the bar closed. Avoid Hotel at all costs if you want a peaceful sleep.

Very small dark twin room provided at back of hotel so no outlook except parking area. They did provide a generator for load shedding as well as Wifi. Dinner & breakfast served nicely in the large restaurant. Lacked any atmosphere with its new decor.

We initially were booked into a newly varnished large room which we found very dark and were moved to a family unit on the outside back part of the hotel which we really enjoyed. The comfortable bed was spacious with crisp clean linen. The family room also included a second single bedroom and the bathroom offered both shower and bath options. A very friendly cat belonging to the managers daughter spent some time with us which we really enjoyed. The staff were welcoming and courteous, dinner on the patio was enjoyable as was available self service cold breakfast options. We also enjoyed the cooked breakfast.
