Chill spot, nothing extravagant, yet comfortable. Excellent service from the employees I met during my stay. I had an issue with confirming - received a confirmation # - my stay via ******* and thereafter getting it cancelled because someone walked in booked a room. The management at XYE made arrangements and eventually secured me a room. Please and thanks!

Relaxing stay at XYE cottages Great experience! Right on the beach. The walls are a bit thin and we could hear our neighbors clearly, but besides that everything was great and for a good price! They have a bar to get drinks from and cabanas on the beach to relax on the amazing 7 mile beach. They also have a lifeguard on site, Chris, who was amazing! He gave us great recommendations and honestly became a friend during our stay. Definitely would be back!

STAY AWAY! Bait and switch hotel this property makes fake post about about room availability to steal funds from online bookings

First time staying at this resort. I loved the location, there is a grocery store and bank nearby, and the beach is steps away from the room. The room was simple and clean with working AC and fridge. There is a TV but for the entire 17 days that I stayed here it would not recieve any stations. WiFi was off for first 2 days although it worked at the local bars. Then it worked for a few days, on and off at least 4 times. Funny that when I complianed to the house keeper it would mysteriously return without any repair person ever attending the property. This was the process on each and every time that the WiFi went out. There is no one in the office at any time. All the work is done by housekeeping and security. The property has been neglected for some time. I broke thru the deck next to my room. Broke my toe and scraped my legs. I complained daily for the first week asking for the TV to be turned on, no help... The restaurant and bar is shown on their website yet it has been shuttered for 2 years. They really should tell people that before selling them a room. This "resort" functions mainly to house staff from Omega Hospital. The nicest rooms facing the water were vacant during my stay, only 4 rooms were used for tourists. This place could be nice if they tried, for example the broken walk way that everyone drives on blocks of cement that flop around when a car drives over them, just silly not to fix this!!

If you just want a place to shower and sleep, then this hotel is just fine. The hotel definitely needs some upgrades. Cob webs in the room indicating that the room is not thoroughly cleaned. The towels were stained, making it impossible to know if they were actually clean or not. There is only 1 microwave in the Kitchenette room, if you have not booked that room you have no access to a microwave. I went 1 night with no water because the security guard did not know how to switch over the water tank and had no one to assist him. The staff was very nice and helpful doing what they could do, however the issues are not their fault. I loved that there is a private beach and that you can order light food if you choose as there is a kitchen and bar on the property. I would probably stay here again, but I would love for them to just clean the rooms properly and provide clean towels that are not stained. They did provide beach towels as well and I loved that. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay. The price was also excellent.

We stayed at XYE Resort January 22, 2023 for 39 days. This is our favorite home away from home. We have stayed here for 10+ years even before it was XYE. If you’re expecting a 5 star resort for a 3-4 star price you might be disappointed. However, you will get a clean room with AC and fan, a small refrigerator, a safe for valuables, a TV and private bathroom. A comfortable bed and most of all a short 2 mins walk to the beach. The staff are friendly and there is a security guard present. We love the garden rooms with their small balconies. These are small duplexes and you will share the balcony with the other room. Our entertainment is sitting on our balcony and greeting the occasional people walking thru the lane to the beach in the morning, while having coffee and listening to roosters crowing. In the evening we enjoy listening to tree frogs and visiting with friends and listening to our own music. And of course most of all walking to The beach without having to cross a road. Going for a swim or just walking up and down the beach. There are beach chairs you can sit in under a sea grape tree or pull it out into the sun and look out at the Chrystal blue sea and people passing by on the beach. The restaurant and bar has good food and drinks. We like to eat there sometimes but also like walking the beach to other venues nearby or down the beach for food and drinks. There are only approximately 15 rooms so your beach isn’t crowded and it’s quiet and relaxing. But once while we were there, a very loud music party next door at Chances Pizza. Good news it was only for 1 night. The new Hilo grocery store is a 10 minute walk from XYE and there is a cambio if needed in the pharmacy and a bank there has an ATM. Plus there are shops and restaurants nearby. XYE is not for everyone. If you want simple clean accommodations without a lot of people and be right on the beach and don’t mind a small room, this is the place. We have already booked for next year. ❤️
