Arrived far to early, but I could change out of my motorbike clothing and go and have lunch. The room was quite small and warm, I didn’t open the window because the sun was on it and kept the shutter closed. There was a ventilator in the room , it moved some air and made a lot of noise. Therefore it was a sweaty night and not much sleep. The breakfast was good even if it was veggie. The owner and his wife were very friendly and spoke very good english. Also I was allowed to park my motorbike free of charge in a secure parkingplace.
We were very impressed with everything about Pension Elisabeth. The pension is a 10 minute, level walk from the main station and the directions we were sent prior to arrival were excellent. There is a nearby bus service too. We received a warm welcome from the owner, advice as to where to visit/eat and were then allocated a great bedroom, clean, well decorated and tastefully functional. Shared shower, toilet (this was the option we chose) and hot drink making facilities/microwave were located just outside our room. Breakfast buffet style in the dining room presented a wonderful choice - cereal, bread, preserves, fruit, yoghurt, cheeses, cold meats, boiled eggs, and even pastries! We were very impressed with the whole set up and wouldn't hesitate to stay again or to recommend to friends and family.
Ganslhof is an efficient hotel in Salzburg. We were there one night for a stopover and for sightseeing. Rooms are basic but clean, a bit dated, beds were good, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The hotel has (paid) outdoor parking spaces, and is located very close to the city centre. Also recommended is the Die Weisse Biergarten which is withing walking distance for having a beer and meal. No mini bar and (more importanly) no AC, only a fan, which meant the room was very hot (we were there when temperatures were well above 30 Centigrades). Recommended for a stopover if the weather is cold.
