Very nice hotel . Quiet ,clean, with very friendly staff, the View out of the back of the hotel is very nice ,with the Guadalupe river. The breakfast which was included was fresh and very good. We enjoyed the stay very much. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Close to New Braunfels.

One of the best hotel stays I’ve ever experienced. The staff is incredible, the breakfast is out of this world delicious and made from scratch, and the River access leads you to a semi-private enclave to float and enjoy shade. I would like to plan a group vacation just to stay here again!

Best place to stay in Gruene!!! Lovely hotel with well-appointed, lovely rooms. The Victorian room was breathtaking! Amazing chef-prepared breakfast and stunning views from back patio. Tranquil, adults-only retreat. Walk to everything in Gruene, but tucked away from street and very quiet.

A lovely property situated right on the river! The rooms are themed, ours was The Perfect Swing….golf related! Our stay was part of an auction package that we had purchased and we were not disappointed. A small hotel, so it was not crowded. Breakfast is included, and it was home-cooked and very tasty! There is a Happy Hour and complimentary cookies and beverages throughout the day. A great place to stay!

This hotel is outstanding! The rooms are spacious, clean and quaint. The location is perfect for the Gruene activities. In fact, this is our second stay here this week. The happy hour is a perfect way to end a day of tourist activities. I highly recommend.

Enjoyed our overnight stay even though it was very expensive. And even though we had really noisy neighbors!! Otherwise the whole area was nice, clean and quiet. Breakfast was really good, even though it was only served between 8:30 to 9:30. Thought we would set an alarm as we are late sleepers and didn’t want to miss eating since it’s included, but didn’t need to thanks to the neighbors loud talking and their music blaring, & something else! Had an outside entrance room with a somewhat nautical decor. Very clean. Enjoyed the treats that were available in nice lobby area. A glass of wine with Chex Mix! Assorted cookies and some candy also available and fruit infused water. We attended a concert at Gruene Hall and were able to walk the short distance from the hotel, which is a lot better than trying to find a parking space around Gruene Hall, that’s for sure. You would end up in the back forty, huge parking area, that would be further than walking from the hotel!

We enjoyed spending anniversary here. Staff made it special through beautiful rooms, friendly persons (Jean!) and good service. Perfect location for walking Gruene and within 10 minutes new Braunfels. Ask for room with balcony and great view of the river.

My reviews are always based upon how well the property pays attention to detail. After spending three nights in residence, we throughly enjoyed our stay from the decor, amenities, the cleanliness and upkeep of the property and the wonderful staff!! We were made to feel at home in all that this hotel has to offer. The bed was without a doubt, the best bed I have ever slept in, including my current bed that we paid thousands for!! We are world travelers and regard the Gruene River Hotel as one of the best properties we have visited! Their attention to detail in all that this property has to offer is outstanding! It was a truly delightful to stay at the Gruene Hotel and we look forward to returning again soon.

This was our first trip to Gruene, we were seeing a show at Gruene Hall, so we decided to stay at a hotel within walking distance. The Gruene River Hotel & Retreat is a gem! The staff was so friendly and very welcoming. We stayed in the Perfect Swing room and it was lovely. The room was immaculate and very well appointed. The attention to decor throughout the room was really nice. The bed and linens were super soft & fresh and we enjoyed the cozy fireplace. The hotel is right on the river so we took a short stroll down the steps and were greeted by 3 deer. The complimentary happy hour and breakfast were a bonus too. We definitely plan to stay at this hotel again, it was a real treat. Cheers!

We stayed in the Haven, a first-floor, very romantic room. Big walk-in shower, great king-sized bed, and a gas fireplace! The breakfast was fabulous, and so was the staff. There's a game room (we shot some pool) and a lovely library. The entire hotel truly is a retreat. If you're heading to Gruene, make this your venue of choice. While you're in the area, be sure to eat at the Gristmill. Get their onion rings... they're far and away the best I've ever had. And check out the historic Brauntex Theater. We saw Judy Collins perform there last night. Before the show, we ate at McAdoo's, an old post-office converted into a great restaurant. Don't miss it.

This was a wonderful stay! The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was amazing! Garrick is an excellent chef! He should put out a cookbook. Ambience was wonderful and the staff was so helpful and friendly! Will be back! So many special touches!

I cannot recommend this place enough if you need a nice calm getaway. Serene would be my word for this place. Staff is extremly pleasant. Breakfast is amazing. Cheesy grits and French toast I definatly recommend. My husband and I enjoyed going to the river early in the quiet of the morning and a glass of wine on our balcony in the evening. We are already planning our fall getaway here.
