Travelling as couple in our mid 70s we very much enjoyed our 5 night stay at Evis. It is a delightful spot on a very small tropical island and the best thing for us is we had the island to ourselves as probably will most guests. There were about 5-6 lovely local staff who looked after us well. One of the highlights was being able to visit the local schools and bring basic supplies for them; they do not have much and were very appreciative. There is also a very interesting 30-45 walk around the interior forest on the island which we did every day. However, a few points to note: 1. There is very limited snorkelling gear available for loan on the island so bring your own. You will definitely want to have it as there is a lovely small reef right at your private beach with some nice coral and lots of interesting fish. Day trips are available to visit other islands and we did enjoy doing that too. 2. Power is from a small generator and only available for limited hours. When it is off there is no water supply or fan and this is the case after about 11pm. However, if the staff sees you having a swim they will happily turn it on so you can shower and they will also turn it on upon request. There is only cold water in the very good shower which is fine as this is the tropics. 3. This is not a high end luxury resort; it is basic but perfectly adequate if you are happy with the simple things of life. If you want little umbrellas in your drinks or an infinity pool, do not stay here! However, if you want a quiet authentic island experience run by friendly locals do stay here! 4. Food for the evening meal is predominately seafood; local crab or freshly caught fish. Let them know in advance if you are allergic to seafood. It is a sea food lovers paradise but they can arrange other items if given enough notice. 5. There is no wifi available and we could get no cellphone reception, but digital detox is good. 6. The whole resort looks a bit tired but the spacious rooms and bathroom are basic and clean. There are a few buildings for which construction has halted but our unit was fine with a comfortable king bed and nice deck overlooking the little beach which is only metres away. There was a mosquito net but we didn’t need it as there were very few mosquitos when we were there in late September.
