Hotel room was in a basement off a muggy, bad-smelling parking garage. Room had puddle of water behind the door and liquid seeping out the baseboard. Room was 15 ft away from laundry room that was cleaning linens for the hotel...could hear hear the dryer or washer going. Breakfast was included and was satisfactory. Price of room (for location-13 miles from JFK) and for condition was more than I should have paid.

Liked that Breakfast much better than expected. Disliked that update on the room was not complete- had large spackle holes where old sconces use to be. Room had a heavy smoke smell. Clearly previous guest smoked cigarettes. Housekeeping freshened the room while we were out and did an amazing job- all odors gone. Staff definitely on it.

The hotel is in a decent area and is definitely the best one in the sheepshead area. It would have been fine—- except for one problem. The ceiling boards above the shower were leaking and stained, so they must have been leaking for some time. Yuck.

Only thing not to like is chained gate not removed when I had to leave. No big deal for me. Someone else may run into it or find it heavy. (I reclosed after pulling out ;). I’ll be staying there again :).

This hotel currently is holding my NYS driver license which the guy working the front desk neglected to hand back to me with my room key. Today - two days after my booking on 4/15 - I received a call from this hotel. This Best Western Plus employee (different from the other night) informed me that I would have to physically return to the hotel to retrieve my license and that they could not mail it to me. Today I arranged for FedEx (my business account) to pick up my license tomorrow and called the hotel front desk to let them know. Wrong! I was then informed that I had to email the hotel owner (?) manager (?) to request release of my license and I am now awaiting her reply to see if my license can be released to FedEx and then be shipped back to me. Unacceptable.

The hotel did not clean our room for room service. We spent the whole morning and part of the afternoon out and expected room service and there was none

The property was not locked at night from the parking area. Doors were left open with the cold weather causing a very cold breeze to come into the room. The exercise room is very small. The owner could save a lot of money by adding some weather *****ping and making sure all of the doors are closed.

Location is okay, but there is roadwork which poses a problem currently. Once that's done the surroundings will be great. Major draw back is the basement level floor where the rooms are facing the road, and subjected to noise. The worst of it is Room B12 in the corner right beside the sidewalk. It is also beside the Utility Room where they pull out the 4 housekeeping carts and 2 soiled linen carts in the mornings. No sleep is possible at that time, when the sound of the clattering wheels roll over the ramp-like door threshold and the ceramic tiles. Avoid B12, if you sleep late. Otherwise, the property is clean, and properly maintained, requiring a few things to be fine tuned.
