A planned two-day meeting ended early on the first day, so I walked over to the hotel around 3:30 to cancel. They said they couldn't cancel because it was past checkout time and "we are sold out and housekeeping has left for the day," even though I hadn't checked in yet so the room was clean, and being sold out means that there's a decent chance that the room could be rebooked before the end of the day. I pointed out the flawed logic. The manager stammered and just said "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do." I didn't see the room, but the lobby was the dirtiest and most run-down Courtyard I've seen.
