愛麗思卡島高爾夫水療酒店(Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa and Island)

Great location on small island linked by a bridge. Fabulous old property in style of a castle with beautiful grounds. Spa starting to look a bit dated but does have decent pool, small sauna and steam room. Rooms were lovely and very spacious. Log fire most welcome as was a well stocked bar. We regret choosing the taster menu. For reasons best known to the Hotel they now serve this in “The Deck”, a room above the Spa with the ambience of a Cafeteria. Seems a very retrograde step to take the tasting menu out of the beautiful wood paneled rooms of the main house. As a group of 6 we have had many taster menu and Michelin star meals. Bottom line it was good but very expensive at £135 plus £105 wine flight. Per head. Furthermore, it was an entirely fish based menu and I would say less than exceptional wine. Dishes were a little over complicated although clearly huge attention to detail. So. It was probably a £90 taster and £60 flight. Well over priced. Shame about the room too. The hotel was lovely , front of house staff great but even at breakfast no toast arrived. Put the taster back in the hotel, cut the cost and don’t over complicate is my advice. £1800 for 6 was our bill. ( a few cocktails and after dinner drinks included )

Had the most amazing two nights at the Isle of eriska hotel. Food, in particular breakfast, was incredible. So much choice and everything was cooked perfectly. Had the opportunity to play badminton, go a few walks, make use of the spa and pool and finally played croquet on the lawn. Rooms were beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfortable. Everything was perfect, but what made the stay was the staff. Such friendly staff, who cannot do enough! Thank you so much for making my birthday weekend perfect!

Just back from the Isle of Eriska and I have to say, it was an experience that I cannot wait to do again. From being greeted in the carpark, to being shown to my room by the manager, the personal touches are everywhere from the moment you arrive. I stayed in a beautiful room in the original building. It was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The decor is perfect for the building. Public areas are spacious and bright and perfect to enjoy a glass of wine, or cup of tea in the afternoon. The highlight of my stay was definitely dinner in the Deck Restaurant. The tasting menu was delicious and beyond anything I have had before. From the canapes to the petit fours, there was not a dish that I did not enjoy. The staff on hand were extremely knowledgeable, explained every dish in detail and offered wine suggestions. A special mention to Luka who was excellent and a credit to the hotel. Some elements of the dishes are foraged by the Head Chef from the island itself. A truly unique experience and I cannot wait to do again very soon.

This is our second visit after around 10 years away. We probably wouldn’t have returned – plenty more fish in the sea – except for the addition of the hillside suites. And now we are guaranteed to return again and again. Having a self catering suite with fabulous balcony allows you to enjoy the facilities of the hotel and the gorgeous countryside without the formality of being in common areas all the time and the restriction of a room. The views are stunning. We enjoyed the food but weren’t blown away. Breakfast was fine. The main restaurant better than adequate. The Deck Restaurant is a little odd. The ambience and décor would be amazing for a casual seafood restaurant. Indeed the formal dining room in the main hotel may be better suited for the posher food. I have to mark Eriska down as I am a vegetarian that sometimes eats simply cooked fish and I was very clear on booking The Deck that this was the case. On arrival the chef introduced the menu and I confirmed my preferences – his reaction was pretty bad – ‘It would have been good to be told …’ in an accusing tone which did not sit well with me. I had done my part and it wasn’t my fault that the hotel comms had broken down. Thankfully the menu had no meat nor any particularly challenging fish so it was fine. We will come back and eat in the main hotel again happily. But perhaps we might bring an M&S ready meal or two and enjoy the suite and fabulous vista instead of being told off …

Lovely hotel - we upgraded to a Hilltop room a couple of days before we stayed and did not regret it at all. You can eat in the room if you wish as it has a fully equipped kitchen but we ate in the hotel both nights and the food was superb. The Hilltop room has a hot tub on the patio which is totally private. It's a short walk downhill to the hotel for breakfast and dinner - the staff were superb - the bar area is lovely for a drink. The breakfast was really good although the conservatory where we ate it was rather warm. We did not have time to use the spa facilities but would highly recommend this hotel.

Staff saved the day by being so nice and friendly. Very disappointing, I was not able to book a meal for the first night and they could not feed us with very few guests. Check -in was a marathon. Food was limited, same menu for 4 days, average and over priced. Cleanliness was not great and the place needs a major overhaul and refurbishment. No golf course and grounds have been neglected, nothing like the photo. It is clearly trading and relying on its past glory. An experience not to be repeated.

We were quite disappointed with our stay at The Isle of Eriska. Sadly, they are in need of some repairs at the moment, not just the dining room ceiling. The staff was courteous but did not seem to have the experience or training to represent what could be a luxurious accommodation. They were very nice, but missed details, our waiter broke a glass on our table and cleaned up the pieces on the ground but left glass on the table and served on top of it; we were shown to our room and the sunroof was extremely hot with all windows closed. We opened them after he left and it was quickly better. Staff could anticipate these little things with experience. We had the tasting menu and found it nearly inedible. Sadly the flavor combinations were not on point. It was served in a room with beating down sun and loud music....Eminem. not the dinner I hoped for for 300 pounds. I was glad we only booked one night. I am just sorry it was our anniversary and we had high hopes. We will not return.

Came here for two nights and had upgrade to the Hilltop Reserve No 6 "Weasel" which was amazing with all the mod cons, large comfortable bed in decent sized bedroom with two wardrobes, dressing table and large bathroom with fabulous shower, double sinks and large bath. Penhaligan toiletries smelt amazing. Kitchen area all well equipped with what you need including ice, milk and water in the large fridge. Lounge area great with the gas fire and large TV, comfy sofa. Sliding glass doors out onto the decking with sunken hot tub (which we used even in the rain!), couple of chairs and table (needing bit of TLC) with amazing views over the water of Lynn of Lorne leading into Loch Linnhe. The hotel is quaint and charming inside, homely and very comfortable without being over pretentious. There are welly boots, umbrellas and walking sticks and hire of bikes to walk or cycle around the island. We took advantage of using the spa, gym and pool areas on both days feeling the benefit of it. Managed to play croquet on the front lawn in the rain! So very relaxing and would love to go back again and thoroughly recommend to others for a breath taking stay away. The staff were so very friendly and attentive, sorting out a couple of "faux pax" to our satisfaction without any fuss, that we came away happy that we had such a great time. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts although second morning no kippers available, but smoked salmon great second choice. In the evening there is a special tasting menu or a three course table d'hote menu. One of my favourite paintings by Sir Frank Dicksee "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" hangs in the dining room and I was pleased to see it in oils as I only have a framed print at home. Not sure if this is the original or if it is still in the Bristol Art Gallery?
