I found this establishment disappointing. My main gripe is that the reality is quite different from the glossy website photos. Maybe we were unlucky encountering a number of problems with the room but we thought the whole place was a little amateurish. The villa itself is spacious, well equipped, we liked the outdoor shower, the front outside area is smaller and not made for comfort. On the food side, the platter is nice but the menu is very limited and if, like us, you stay more than one night, you might struggle with the lack of choice. From the restaurant, there is a charming view of the vineyard, however sitting in the blazing sun at breakfast can spoil the enjoyment.

The unit was really absolutely lovely but has a lot of stairs. They've made a lot of their own furniture but it goes well with the setting. The outdoor bathroom was spectacular! Lovely dogs and gorgeous farm to wander around. The amenities were great and staff very friendly. The kitchen equipment was kept to the minimum, which we understand fits the ethos, and the staff were happy to bring anything one needs. They brought us a braai and grid, tongs, wood etc. But it feels awkward and is a bit of a pain to have to keep asking for everything you need. Say if you want to make breakfast, and lunch and need a frying pan, egg lifter, whisk, bowl, cutting board, grater, breadknife etc. Perhaps if there was is a box of self catering equipment one can pay a deposit for? We opted to have dinner at the restaurant one night, but it wasn't something we would recommend as a must.

A pure gem with breathtaking views on the mountain and on the wineyard. Impeccable service and what a friendliness of the staff! Delicious food paired with their own superb wines. Eye for detail in the rooms, on your plate… in short TOP TOP TOP!!!

We fell in love with De Kombuys from the minute we turned into the estate! Organic vineyards with the sweetest runner ducks going about their day, free-range Waygu roaming on green pastures, and views for days! We stayed in the Tafelberg cottage and were blown away by the attention to detail. The French pane windows & doors looking onto a private heated plunge pool were my best - or maybe the outdoor shower and bath... the whole place is so tastefully done I couldn't choose :) Breakfast at The Marbled Waygu was also a highlight for us - lavender rusks, pomegranate gems in your water and the Macha bowl - incredible! We absolutely loved our stay and definitely plan on returning... at least once a year!

place is unbelieveable, go try it is the only way to find out how nice the place and people are, a must is the restuarant and the stay. the smaller details other hotels have not even thought of, but they have implemented. . seeing is believing, the food is fantastic

As you come down the long driveway, more and more elements of the farm come into view. It’s a beautiful spot to relax, and we were only here for one night as a stop over - both of us have stated how we would make a special trip back to this hotel as it was just so glorious and welcoming. Restaurant was lovely, and the staff (we only dealt with one girl who was looking after the restaurant, shop, and our room) were brilliant. The most memorable part however? Meeting their Rhodesian Ridgeback Siemu who was such a delight, and who inspired us so much, that 6 months on we now have one of our own; Otis.

Hidden Gem : fantastic, romantic, gorgeous set up with lovely small details. You see the owner’s love for decorating, it makes you feel at home. Lovely flowers in the room. Super environment, super nice team which really spoiled us they were lovely. Top food, beautiful view and star gazing nights. Everything was perfect and we were sorry to leave

This wine estate is an absolute hidden gem off the beaten path in the Cango Valley, Oudtshoorn. The farm is picturesque and the farmstead nestles between mountains, vineyards and grazing sheep. Manina Smuts is a five star hostess and accepted our accommodation booking on short notice and she along with her excellent team and Seeumeeu, the dog, awaited us with smiles, chilled wine on ice, fresh flowers, wood by all the fireplaces and lots of personal touches. The gorgeous farm accommodation comprises of villas, cottages and a bush camp. We overnighted in ‘Ou Skooltjie’ and ‘The Bakhuis” with its gorgeous interiors - serene, luxurious and exceptionally comfortable. We loved our charming cottages. The quality linen, mattress and plush, luxury towels ensured a blissed and blessed in-room experience. We savoured the beautifully presented, flavoursome dishes at breakfast. Ideal for a dream stay combined with personal service and Swartberg peace.
