We enjoyed our stay and the hotel is quaint and unique but the doorman of the “speakeasy” was rude and pompous. When we tried to go in he blocked our entry saying “can I help you” in a rude tone. We said we were guests of the hotel and wanted to grab a cocktail at the bar. He then proceeded to act as if we weren’t allowed in and made a big deal about it. The funny thing is the concierge at check-in tells everyone that there is a speakeasy, yet the doorman of the bar acts like it’s a members only type thing and didn’t seem to care that we were guests of the hotel. It’s not really a “speakeasy” when you can see the bar from the hotel lobby, and when the hotel staff tell everyone about it. So the doorman of the bar doesn’t need to act like it’s an actual speakeasy.

The Franklin on Rittenhouse is a tiny gem in the lovely Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and helpful, nice amenities available (tea, coffee and water available all day, etc). The building is historic, so some of the expected hiccups with that - but responsive staff makes up for it!

The Franklin was a great place to stay for us! It was right in the heart of Rittenhouse Square and we walked to a great Italian Restaurant in the area. The hotel was very welcoming and the staff was so sweet! They had a "Speakeasy" type bar for your relaxation and a tasty breakfast of fresh berry muffins, yogurt with granola and fresh berries, as well as bagels and delicious coffee and juice as well!

This hotel is gorgeous. The decorations are so pretty and well done and the continental breakfast was very tasty. There is a speakeasy bar downstairs which had pretty good cocktails, and a fun environment. Unfortunately, our room was right above that bar and the soundproofing was rather poor to the point where it felt like we were trying to sleep in the bar. Apparently, their website describes it as being a “nightlife room” but we didn’t see that description. The staff were very understanding and moved us to a different room for a second night so we were actually able to catch some sleep. I would stay at this hotel again, but I would not recommend you stay in the “dandy” room, unless you plan to go to sleep only after the bar shuts down for the night.

This hotel was excellent. A pleasant surprise that I discovered on ******* at about 11 pm. I will be back often! Lady working desk overnight was fabulous.

Great location and very walkable and safe, even later at night. Continental breakfast is a nice touch. Property has a few rough edges though... garbage bags left out at breakfast, found stray hairs in the bed, night staff not dressed in professional attire (e.g. t-shirt & jeans). Also just note the Hector room is over a bar/speakeasy with late hours on weekends and near a noisy staircase -- might be bothersome for light sleepers.

Room was fine but nothing special or nice. The safe was broken. More annoyingly however, you could hear the bass of the bar until 2 am on weekend nights, which prevented me from sleeping. Overall, wouldn’t recommend staying here.
