匹茲堡南側智選假日酒店(Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh-South Side, an IHG Hotel)

The hotel is close to the center of Pittsburgh (south side of the Monongahela river). The city can be easily explored on foot from there, you can reach the downtown area in 30 minutes on foot. Only negative point is that you need to walk through rather shady area which might some people feeling unsafe with. The hotel itself is good, the room was spacious and the beds very comfortable, the bathroom though showed tiny spots of mold - nothing serious though. Breakfast was served downstairs in a nice environment. It had a big selection (eggs, bacon, sausages, sweets, bread, cream cheese, jam and yoghurts as well as oatmeal) and was very tasty - which we enjoyed. The coffee machine inside the room was really crappy, I pressed the button for inserting the coffee and it fell almost apart. I notified the receptionist and he told me I could always get coffee and hot water from the breakfast area which was highly appreciated. As I stayed there on a weekend I used a public parking lot - for free - in the direct vicinity and did not pay for the rather expensive hotel parking.

There was a Toenail clipping left on the floor by the bed and there were sheers in the room and no way to make the room dark to sleep at night.

Location is easily accessible by public transport, cleanliness is just average , not changing towels without request ,

Not bad over the river from city, room wasn’t serviced each night but spacious and a good little breakfast bar.

This is likely the worst stay I've ever had in a hotel. From the very first night at check in where the desk person was clearly overwhelmed and obviously over whatever he was doing. It took over an hour to actually get us inside our rooms because the keys would not work. The employees were no help at all. Each time we needed to leave our rooms a security guard had to come let us back in. Once we did get into our rooms we found absolutely no hot water. Not even a bit warm. The next morning we were moved to another room and inside this room the toilet wouldn't flush. Fortunately we knew how to get around this ourselves and make it work but the next group will likely be screwed. Let's see, the coffee maker in the room didn't work and dumped water straight into the counter, there were 3 bottles of lotion in the shower instead of actual shampoo and conditioner, and the heater was stuck on because half the buttons were broken. Honestly if it weren't for the close pricing of this hotel to the PPG arena I'd say it was a complete disaster but that was its only benefit. This place is awful and has totally changed my opinion on Holiday Inn in general. The only staff member that seems to care is Zach and the poor security guard that had to constantly go up and down stairs and the elevator all night unlocking doors for people. What a disaster.
