It was a lovely stay. Nice room, clean and tidy, the complimentary drink was a nice gesture. The property is huge and peaceful for a relaxing walk around. It's convenient to wineries and restaurants. The only thing didn't really work for us was the air conditioner, couldn't figure out how to turn it on.

We found this very disappointing. We had not realised or had not been informed that there were no facilities for breakfast on site, not even a breakfast pack. We had to drive about 15 minutes away to find something. There was no room service in the two nights we were there so we had to rewash and reuse cups and glasses and of course, as in most hotels, the tissues ran out after a few uses. The leaking shower door ensured we had a soggy bath mat for the full time we were there. Otherwise it was clean and comfortable but for this price we would normally expect more.

We loved our stay at Thistle Hill celebrating our 20th Anniversary. We were welcomed when we arrived, and shown to our very comfortable room. It’s located perfectly within walking distance of a number of wineries, breweries and restaurants, and not far to drive if you want to explore further or take a tour. It was a peaceful and relaxing location, with a pool to cool off after a long hard day of sampling what the region has to offer, plus some local sweet wine was in our room to enjoy. We highly recommend staying here, and if we ever come back (we will!), this is where we’ll book to stay.

What a beautiful , quiet, quaint and refreshingly clean place to stay. Great room that was well appointed, close to the wineries and other facilities. Thank-you for a relaxing stay.. There was a complimentary sip of wine, chocolates and the most comfy bed.

We stayed in the cabin with our toy poodle. The cabin was maxing and had everything we needed, beds were comfortable, wifi for the kids was excellent and the views on the property were spectacular.

This was such a beautiful guest house, so peaceful and very central. Our hosts were amazing and very accommodating. Super lucky to be able to bring our dog as well. We even got to see some kangaroos in the morning, jumping around. Highly recommend!

Sublime Hunter Valley retreat with gorgeous hospitality! My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Thistle Hill for two nights, whilst on holidays in our own country instead of charging overseas. We had a three week driving holiday from the Gold Coast to Jervis Bay, back via the Blue Mountains returning home via the New England Highway! We have stayed in the Hunter numerous times, but have now found our second home away from home! I really shouldn’t tell too many people because we might not be able to get in next time due to its popularity! The beautifully appointed guest rooms, opening up with double french doors to a lovely garden, offer a true retreat! A bottle of local wine and a sweet little cheese platter awaits you upon arrival, as well as the obligatory coffee and tea making facilities. However Jo, our hostess makes that extra little effort by putting yummy home made biscuits in a gorgeous glass dome for afternoon tea and a dessert wine served in a stunning decanter awaits your arrival from one of the local restaurants, for a nightcap! The property is sublime, with swimming pool, guest function area, outdoor fire pit and a stunning garden in which to meander. The huge kitchen where breakfast is served, is a treasure cove of cooking facilities and makes you feel as if you were in a french chateau! Breakfast is delicious, not to be missed! We just wanted to stay for a week, or longer! Please Jo and John, keep doing what you are doing, it is truly a wonderful experience! The best night’s sleep in our three weeks away from home! We shall return!

It is always difficult to find a guest house able to accommodate 7 couples in a guest house each having their own en-suite. Thistle Hill was just the place for our yearly meet up for a few days. Such a great place with wonderful views and gardens. It was almost like fairy land. See photo. Very comfortable bedrooms with lovely fluffy towels in the bathrooms . The enormous kitchen was a great place to dine although to be honest I should add that the kitchen showed signs of wear and tear and had too many "objet d'art" giving a cluttered appearance plus the the dishwashers had nearly had their day. Only a very minor point. There were so many nooks and crannies around the garden to escape. We had a great time despite the very hot weather. I think it reached 38°C. A/C worked really well and the swimming pool was a blessing. We had such a great catch up with our old friends and enjoyed every minute. Thanks to our hosts for a great stay. Michael

One of best experience with this house, group of people, specious and clean rooms, lots of place to walk around, everyone enjoyed the stay.

Everything was so lovely. The room was comfy & great furnishing. Garden & surrounds were relaxing & well planned. Nice & Quiet

This place is amazing. Gardens and lawns are neat. The rooms we stayed in are just very cozy and warm. Great shower. It was all of the 1% items - coffee x 2 ways. Very central location as we stayed due to a concert. Fireplaces all ready to go. Just lovely

I recently stayed in the 5 bedroom luxury villa at Thistle Hill Guesthouse with a group of friends. We absolutely adored our time there as did our dogs . The villa has everything you need, is comfortable, clean and has space for everyone to relax in. There are 3 lounge areas so people are not on top of each other. We spent most of our time using the outdoor area which was just perfect with a pool and a totally fenced in yard for the dogs . We really appreciated the large property which is away from any road noise and the only noise is from birds! The beds are extremely comfortable and bathrooms are great too. We will be back!

I just spent 3 days at Thistle Hill, it was the perfect getaway with my daughter. Leisurely long walks, lovely dinners and beautiful grounds. So peaceful and great to be in nature and the kangaroos, gorgeous. Thistle Hill was.very clean, so comfortable and provided everything we could want. I think it would be the perfect place for a family reunion. It was my privilege to stay at such a well maintained and beautiful guest house. I would definitely recommend and will come back again.

Enjoy the spacious 2 bedroom cottage. Private, luxury and comfortable beds. Keep an eye out for subtle complimentary extras - additional fluffy towels, marshmallow roasting kit, fire pit and warm rug throws, even condiments and warm night cap beverage. You’ll be amazed at the provisions and how beautiful the vineyard outlook is. Highly recommended. Thank you.
