Nach unserer Ankunft in Südafrika verbrachten wir hier zwei Tage. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und hatten ein wunderschönes Zimmer. Unsere Wahl fiel auf diesen Ort, da man mit Uber in nur 15 Minuten an der Waterfront ist und er ein idealer Ausgangspunkt ist, um die Umgebung zu erkunden (wie Stellenbosch, Muizenberg usw.). Wir haben auch Golf gespielt, da es viele großartige Golfplätze gibt, die weniger als 30 Minuten entfernt sind.

Quando siamo entrati sembrava che eravamo in un film una villa antica trasformata in un hotel bellissimo.Le camere al primo piano erano deliziose super curate con tutti i confort avevamo un terrazzo che delle simpatiche scimmie ci facevano compagnia la cena e la colazione apparecchiate con le posate d’argento e la tavola super curata insomma sono rimasto molto contento le persone che ci lavorano sono speciali di una gentilezza di altri tempi ci ho lasciato il cuore

This is a little Gem, had a fantastic experience the house is perfect in every way and the history is amazing. Rooms are the best I have ever stayed in it’s well worth a visit if you like Victorian architecture and beautiful decor. Could not find anything negative.

It’s a picture of old charm luxury. Behind the electric security gates you will find attentive, friendly staff, excellent food and beautiful rooms. Lots of small touches such as a plate of fruit, a proper coffee machine and the beds being turned down at night. Well worth a visit.

A living historical building in good condition to draw you in to a Victorian manor house .In short, a hidden gem guaranteed to blow every expectation out of the water. The staff and facilities are above 5 star standard! The meals are also worth every single cent. It's quiet and well decorated.

We had a lovely overnight at this hotel. It’s a little quirky, the room we stayed in and bathroom were huge and we enjoyed a good meal with drinks in the evening. Paul made us feel very welcome and was really friendly and helpful. The lounges were lovely for pre dinner drinks and the garden also looked nice although it was a little cool the night we were there.

This was our first night of a three week holiday in South Africa after an 11 hour flight from the UK. The only reason we’ve given it a 3* rating was that it rather smelled like an old people’s home, and the place could do with a lick of paint. Having said that, the staff were lovely, the room very grand and spacious and dinner was excellent. I expected the grounds to be a bit more extensive but it was too cold to try the pool! All in all, perfectly ok for a one night stop over.

Barbara gave us a very warm welcome, she is delightful. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast and the room was spacious and very comfortable. The house is a large Victorian house with lots of original features, very different to your modern hotels.

Amazing! We stayed here for one night as a stopover on our way to safari. Brenda, the manager was absolutely fantastic. She was so attentive, the service was the best we’ve ever had. The food was excellent. The hotel itself is so quirky, it’s like stepping back to the 1920’s. So nice to go somewhere so different. I can’t recommend this hotel enough.

Always great to stay at Hacklewood Hill. The quintessential English rooms, decor is lovely. Great rooms, comfortable beds and top staff made this a very pleasurable stay

Our final stay before leaving South Africa and a perfect end location. A great house with a very homely feel, rooms are perfect and bathroom was huge! Bedding so fresh and clean. All staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful and couldn’t do enough to help. Food brilliant and excellent service. Only a short drive to Port Elizabeth airport which is really convenient too.

We just loved this hotel. The rooms the bathrooms the people, it was truly a lovely one night stay and I would love to return again for longer. Breakfast was however little disappointing and would have thought a boutique hotel of this nature would have had freshly baked breads instead of stock standard she breads and more choice of healthier options. But never the less I will return.

I only planned a stop in Port Elizabeth to stay at Hacklewood Hill Country house, due to the reviews and descriptions from other travellers that just made me want to experience it myself. When we walked into the entrance hall of the hotel, it was obvious someone had thoughtfully taken the time and expense of carefully renovating the house (built in the late 1890's as a Doctors family house) then using fixtures fittings and furnishings to transport visitors back to 1910 - 20 . The room was large, comfortable and clean the bathroom just the place for a party (sooo big). The revelation of the visit was the quality of the food, it may have been worth staying an extra night for another dinner, it was that good.

From the moment we arrived we were looked after very well. Room, food and staff were all exceptional. Dinner was to die for. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. It had the best shower we have encountered after a month in South Africa.
