Very beautiful LARGE home in a quiet neighborhood. Onsite parking. Hosts were terrific. 15 minute walk to almost everything. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. Bright. Constant contact with hosts via texts with immediate response. They accommodated our early arrival.

Great overnight getaway to Portland to celebrate anniversary. The Blind Tiger was a beautiful, cozy and eclectic boutique hotel in the West End not too far from the Old Port, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. We loved our third floor fireplaced room, although the bathroom was small. The bed was comfortable and the heating worked well. We especially loved the downstairs area with plenty of seating (we liked sitting by the fireplace) and a nice dining room and pantry for breakfast and snacks. Ample snacks, teas, coffees and a machine which made espressos, Americanos, lattes, etc. Breakfast was great, with many choices! Loved talking with and getting recommendations for restaurants, etc. from Nicolette who was at the hotel desk. She was so helpful and so friendly. We felt like we were in someone's home rather than at a hotel. If we return to Portland would definitely stay here again!

What a beautiful hotel, so many thoughtful touches, and absolutely exceptional hospitality. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Portland. Close to everything you want, gorgeous decor, super easy parking and check in. We had such a lovely, romantic time.

Everything about this hotel was perfection. The rooms are gorgeous, and the beds are comfortable. The shared spaces are inviting and functional and they’ve thought of every detail (flavored ice cubes and stocked pantry). And the breakfast is incredible. Whether you’re booking one room or looking to book the whole thing, look no further! Book it now!

We rented the entire house (Carleton House) for a 2 day management retreat in Portland. Carleton House exceeded our expectations in its warmth, comfort, and location. The house is cozy without feeling small. All of the bedrooms have an en suite bath. We had full access to the 2 living rooms, dining room & kitchen as we rented the whole house and it was perfect for formal meeting time as well as relaxed discussions or pre-dinner cocktails. Every detail is well thought out in how Carleton House is laid out. Tammara and the team went out of their way to ensure our comfort and privacy while we held day long meetings. In the evenings we had a myriad of choices when it comes to great restaurants in Portland. Blind Tiger made excellent recommendations for us within walking distance of the house. Everything about it was perfect and I would highly recommend it for business or pleasure.

The property is an old mansion beautifully decorated with an eclectic style. It was cozy, warm and inviting. Nicolette was incredibly attentive and always present. A fire was always going in the main living room. Our room was large and comfortable with a fireplace that we chose not to use. It's a great property and a 1/2 mile walk to downtown Portland. If you want something unique this is a must..

New favorite style of hotel to stay in! The hospitality and care for details were unprecedented. The snack bar and breakfast spread alone were m worth the price of the room, and the decor and styling and bedding in the Diavolo room were absolutely lovely. There are a few minor upkeep/handyman jobs needing attention around the property, but there’s grace with it being a very old mansion. Would 100% stay here again and any other Lark Hotel properties.

This is a bed&breakfast with a stylish interior design. That is it, do not have high expectations for service and amenities.
