I would highly recommend anyone looking to stay in Portsmouth to look elsewhere.
The room we where placed in was situated at the back of a restaurant that is not affiliated with the hotel. You have the luxury each morning of the listening to the bin men and/or restaurant workers emptying the rubbish right outside your front door. You also have the pleasure of having two parking spaces right on your doorstep. During our eventful stay, we had 2 random cars parked outside our door and often heard them coming and going in the early hours of the morning. Each night, you can also hear people walking up and down the alleyway as there is ZERO soundproofing in the unit. By reading other reviews, I'm not the first person to have an issue with this. The hotel tried justifying calling this a "room" by saying its beside a cottage that is associated with the hotel. So basically, they placed a bed in the garden shed of that cottage and called it a hotel room.
Along with it being a tiny converted shed, there is little to no natural light that enters the room, and there is an smell in that room that comes from the radiator. The genius who designed the room decided to place a clothes hanger right above the radiator, making sure the smell sticks to any clothes or jackets you have to hang there (we had to dry clean two jackets to get rid of the smell as a result).
Left a review on Google in case you want to read the full story.
