卡斯特羅迪蒙特招待所(Castello di Monte)

This boutique hotel is a gem. It is an older large home in a residential area. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed with magnificent views of Pretoria. The staff were outstanding and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were superb.

Just love this hotel, stunning location, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, great food and amazing friendly staff. Whilst there is no bar or lounge area, we enjoyed cocktails on the terrace overlooking the pretty gardens and beyond to Pretoria .

Lovely quaint hotel. The staff were keen to help in any way they could.one of the local drivers gave us a car tour of Pretoria as we were only in the city for a day, and the weather was appalling (rain, not cold!). We had beers on the terrace, overlooking the main inured lawn. The room was lovely, the bedroom had an adjacent dressing room and bathroom, all week sized and well equipped. The hotel is an old stay;e, but we liked it and it’s ambience

A bit like staying at Fawlty Towers. It was mainly the restaurant staff - food was painfully slow & drink service even slower. We waited 40 mins for a cocktail! We were only staying one night fortunately. Breakfast was just as slow & one table didn’t even get any before their ride arrived to collect them!on the plus side Rooms were spacious, clean & bed was comfy but it just lacked a personal touch. Most people staying here were then moving onto Rovos Rail so I wonder if there was maybe a deal with the hotel & a travel company so they just didn’t need to try

Wonderful hotel and service was prompt professional but like d amd welcoming as a solo female it’s v v important to me taxis booked excursions food and I lost my case they managed to trace it for me all the team I dealt with where omazin! To mention sharmaine shielah duduxile chef agre and the lovely jj who sorted out my transfer for me a truly beautiful relaxed stay like a home from home wonderful breakfast

We stayed for one night at this amazing hotel before boarding the Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Victoria Falls. We received a very warm welcome and we were very pleasantly surprised to have been given a complimentary room upgrade to the Presedential Suite. The suite was amazing. Opulent and luxurious with 2 large bathrooms and an incredible 4 poster bed. But, even better than the room was the attentiveness of the staff. They arranged a cab to a mall in Pretoria and recommended a fabulous brasserie for dinner. They made sure our short stay was perfect.

Reading recent reviews we were a bit nervous of continuing with our booking. Only there for one night ahead of catching the Rovos train to The Falls. All our worries were soon dispelled. Greeted as soon as we step out of our taxi and suitcases were taken to our room. We were given a tour of the hotel including the magnificent roof area and the 360 degree view of Pretoria. Our room was superb with a lovely large bathroom with walk in shower. The evening meal and the breakfast next morning were taken in the elegant dining room. We asked if we could have lunch on the roof and this was immediately provided. Nothing was too much trouble. The grounds and building really are superb. All the meals were excellent as was the service by the lovely young staff. Of course the electric sockets were the round 3 pin type - well we were in South Africa so we expected South Africa system - why anyone would expect anything different is beyond me! We want to visit Pretoria sometime and when we do this will be our first choice

Regrettably, this has been a huge disappointment! I love emphasising good things about locations where we stay, but the only good I can say is that is spacious and sunsets are good. Wine was poured without asking us to taste, food was underwhelming with runny tummies the day after. White wine was not even chilled and no ice bucket provided. Our bathroom was extremely cold and our friends boiled in theirs.. cupboard doors broken/missing, mould on walls, unpainted repairs on walls etc etc. Simply cannot recommend this place, not even to my enemies…

It saddens me when you return to the same place (apparently 5 stars) and as guests of the presidential suite, to convince yourself it could be better but it worsens. On our third visit, I had to offload six suitcases despite staff hanging around at entrance. Had to carry the bags up the ten or so stairs myself. No assistance. No fireplace- apparently looking for an overseas part (ignitor on the gas). We buy these locally. Underfloor heating not working (it is winter in Gauteng) and this being a presidential suite. No tomato cocktail available when my wife wanted a bloody mary. The reason: We had a function last night. We’re paying top money to stay here, why should one have to suffer as a result of poor planning?Telephones not working for half an hour. Children in room next door…. Enormous attitude from Karabo the moment I called as we were having hot water issues (trickling took about 40 mins to fill up) when I called. Again I phoned and insisted on her name but she refused. DSTV in children’s room not working. We received a welcome letter referring to a fruit basket which was non existent. Not acceptable for the price we paid. This is supposedly five stars but didn’t fee like it. The staff almost knocked off down the door whilst I was on an important phone call. Knocking once or twice fine, but really going for it is just uncalled for. Unrefined and not living up to standards of five stars. Even the clock was not set properly.
