We arrived at Manoir de la Manantie after spending time in Paris and driving through the Loire Valley. What an oasis it was. Veronqiue, the owner of the BnB was delightful; welcoming, helpful and great to chat to not only about things to do in the area but also about the history or the Manoir. Veronique showed us to our magnificent room, which included a sleeping and sitting area and bathroom with a spa bath. The furniture was the finest in antique style and the bed most comfortable. The expansive garden was peaceful with areas shaded by beautiful trees, a variety of seating to suit your mood, a terrace and a small pond with water lillies, magnificent to look at. It provided us with a quiet place to sit and chill after our days out seeing the sights. We ate our typical French breakfast (included in the room cost) of pasties, fruit and yogurt, fresh bread, cold cuts and cheese and great coffee (decaf available) each day on the terrace. Veronique also provides an evening meal (at an extra cost) given notice. We had a meal in on both nights. The first a delicious home cooked quiche and salad and the second a board of meats and local cheeses. Veronique's husband was also on hand to give advice on wine, which could be purchased from them at reasonable prices. Not only were our meals delicious, but eating at the Manoir was a great idea given the limited choice of restaurants within easy walking distance. Although we didn't avail ourselves to this service, massages were available and easily booked through Veronique. We would highly recommend a stay at Manoir de la Manantie if you are looking for a very special trip away. It's worth every cent/euro!
