My fellow travellers……..Do not stay at these premises. Having been booked accommodation for three nights by an independent travel company, we were confronted with the joy that was unit 7A, a ‘studio with lake view room’. This was an incredibly small ground floor unit fronting a busy car park with no view of the nearby lake. The sole bedroom was constructed without a window and as a consequence was dark, poorly ventilated and claustrophobic. The entire unit smelt strongly of damp throughout with an overriding pungent smell of a cheap cleaning product. The floor covering was in an extremely poor condition and in some areas was filthy. It was worn and stained throughout and gave the strong impression of being unhygienic. The small and cramped living area contained an old brown UPVC sofa which had been rudimentary repaired along its entire length with a ***** of black plastic tape. Furthermore, the arm of the furniture was ripped in two places. Walls throughout were dirty, scuffed and in some places dented. There was also a considerable amount of debris including abandoned and identified foodstuffs on the floor of this unit. The entire apartment was extremely shabby, dirty, tired, poorly furnished and gave one the impression of being in a darkened basement. Quite frankly, it was appalling. An immediate complaint was made and we were offered an alternative studio for only two nights, which was used as staff accommodation. This unit also smelt extremely damp, had an overriding smell of disinfectant, the furniture was poor, old, cheap and shabby. The sofa was worn and threadbare and the bathroom had considerable quantities of mould within the shower. Again, the floor covering was old, worn and stained. The single small table came complete with a number of holes in its top. There was absolutely no privacy in the bedroom/living area as a public footpath passed immediately outside the window. The single solid window blind would result in the room being in total darkness. There was a single car parking space, however it was immediately outside the window and blocked both light and glimpses of a lake view. Again, this was appalling and unacceptable. We immediately declined this unit and left the premises. Breakfree The Point openly advertises itself as ‘The Point Luxury Apartments’. These are not luxury apartments! Unfortunately these same reported issues and complaints have been present since 2010 as can be seen by previous reviews. Despite continued apologies provided by local management, none of the issues raised have been addressed in these privately owned apartments.
