Charters Towers is a delightful northern Queensland town - we were visiting the town on our way through to Cairns. The Country Road Motel is also a delightful place to stay. We were welcomed warmly on arrival the room was clean, the bathroom ideal and well appointed and was as advertised - the bed was a queen bed - unlike some other motels we stayed in during this trip where we had booked and paid for a Deluxe Queen room and find we had been allocated a double bed. The visit to Tower Hill Lookout when the sun is dropping and the wallaby's were frolicking below was a highlight.

This place is perfect and a pleasure to stay. I stayed here Sunday 22nd December. The room and service were perfect as usual And as usual the Manager cooked a fantastic dinner and breakfast. You will never go hungry staying there. I have stayed here twice before while travelling between Qld and NT but this time from Vic to Cairns. The Motel is well placed with a service station just down the road and all main shops. Pool was cool on a hot day of 32c. Will stay again.

Decent. Pros: • Clean • Basics of a motel – kettle, microwave, fridge, basic tea and coffee • Wifi worked ok. I’ve had worse. • Pool looked nice • Friendly proprietors • Recently updated main room and renovated bathroom (low end but new fittings). Important if you object to dated but clean facilities – we don’t object. Clean is clean. • Nice long bar and stools in the room so both people can sit and eat! • Air Conditioned not particularly loud – unusual for a vanilla motel! Cons: • Trucks on the main road out the front which you can hear if you have the window open but otherwise not • Basic – but as I say, clean, everything basic is done right. Is at the top end of what I’d pay for basic, but its all done right and running a motel must be a difficult thing and I am sure it occupies a lot of hours 7 days a week for not a great income. So all in all a pretty decent place to stay. Nothing special, but decent. From what I read, a lot of the places in Charters aren’t this decent. When you see it you may be bothered by the train line running behind the motel, I certainly was when I saw it. But only heard one train during the night, and slept as well as I have at any other accommodation. In any case the train line is close to most accommodation in Charters, even if not mentioned in the reviews of those places. Probably didn’t need to mention it really.

Clean and comfortable, we were a little concerned that the noise of roadtrains rumbling past would keep us awake all night -- Country Road Motel is on a main road heading west: instead, delighted to have had possibly the best sleep in our week's holiday.

This was another last minute booking due to rain. The motel is in walking distance to the Tower Hill Lookout or a very short drive. The room was clean with bar fridge, microwave and kettle. The bed was very comfortable. Would stay again

We arrived about 7:30pm after a 10 hour drive, the owner was super friendly and accommodating and was happy to offer us a room. We felt very welcomed. The room was a good size and was a very clean and tidy room. The bathroom has been renovated. Bed is comfortable. Overall great experience

We'd been through Charters Towers before but never stopped to look around so we decided to stay there for two nights on a recent trip - we'd booked ahead and checked in when we arrived - very happy with this motel, conveniently situated, lovely and clean, nice little kitchenette and a good comfortable bed with a couple of nice comfy chairs to sit on - plus a small outdoor setting which we used often as well. The host couldn't have been more friendly and was happy to chat. A lovely motel and thoroughly recommended.

The motel is very comfortable & clean and our room was spacious. There’s a nice undercover area to sit outside the rooms and we also had a nice little area out the front overlooking the lawns down to the road. 2 washing machines for guest use and soap powder supplied free. Our hosts were pleasant & helpful. Highly recommend.

We arrived after pre-booking our stay and our host was very helpful with local directions and where to visit, eat and explore. loved how clean and comfortable the room was with a perfect location being quiet but still close to town. Comfortable and good value

Decent accommodation, clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. Very basic with under cover parking at the door for your vehicle. Nothing fancy but given that we were three adults sharing the room, another key would have made sense. On the Highway with service station opposite.
