How is it possible for Tripadvisor to recommend this Resort when you are unable to book online and then suggest that you contact Fern directly without publishing a phone number. Unsolicited destination with no genuine prospects to offer!!! Totally loosing confidence with Tripadvisor.

The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. The nature around it is beautiful. We have come here many times and were always pleased. The food is generally good, and plentiful. I would recommend the resort to anyone wishing to be in a natural surrounding with comfortable accomodations.

Every year, my friends and I go to the FERN. It’s pretty good actually. The only drawback I have is in the hotel rooms I was cool. You can light a fire in the fireplace in the fire side in, but that doesn’t last forever. I don’t know it’s why it’s always cool in here. I wish it was better.. However, the meals are incredible. You get a lot of food, the prices are reasonable it’s well worth it to try it out ..

This is our 6th company event at Fern. The Fern staff are always great in helping us prepare and ensuring our last minute needs are met! Our employees really look forward to coming back to "Camp Axsium" held at Fern.

As always our visit to Fern was too notch. Kids had a lot of fun. We learned how to play Pickle Ball as a family with Mike. My oldest decided she wants to learn and play more tennis now after taking a class as well. Nightly entertainment was great. Dining was top notch. Thanks again. We will be back in Jan.

We just returned home after spending 4 days and 3 nights at Fern resort with our 4 1/2 year old granddaughter. The place is chock full of activities for all ages. It is an all inclusive and the food was excellent and plentiful. There are 2 outdoor and 1 indoor pools. We stayed in the Main Inn. Please note that there are no elevators, however, the staff is very accommodating to help you take your luggage upstairs. Overall, the grounds are lovely and it is situated on a beautiful lake. Some of the areas could use some TLC because the facility is 125 years old, for example the paint on our balcony was chipping badly. The place is fairly expensive, so a large scale renovation program to improve the facilities is necessary. The staff is Fern’s saving grace. The staff is attentive, happy and made the visit worthwhile.

I spent a weekend with my Chorus at Fern Resort for retreat and to rehearse for our annual concert. The venue, the rooms and meeting rooms were really nice and we spent a good time there. I lost an earring just before leaving. I contacted their customer service a couple of weeks later. They had found it and kept it. Then they sent it back to me immediately, free of charge in a very professional and kind manner. It was a sentimental present so I really appreciated it.

I booked 2 rooms, one for my daughter and one for my husband and I. Both rooms just under $5000 for 2 nights..on a weekday. I fully expected complete luxury for this price. The drive in was encouraging, long beautiful driveway. But don’t look too closely around, it needs maintenance. The staff was incredible! The food was great! We packed our golf clubs but the course was in such bad shape, grass growing over the cup/pin. The Play Village needs some serious work, its old wood and paint is chipped badly everywhere. I was worried a little about splinters. Old used toys everywhere. Just not what I imagined. We told my 5 year granddaughter and hyped her on the Honey Bee ride, when we arrived it had been cancelled. Disappointing. I wouldn’t want to discourage anyone from visiting, it’s historic and I imagine years ago it would have been the place to be. Just maintain your expectations. I’m looking for a resort that I can go to year after year in Canada but this won’t be it. Doing the math, looks like I could have taken my family for over a week to another country!

Great experience! The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating! Beautiful venue! Appetizers, entrees and breakfast were excellent. General Manager Scott and his team made us feel like part of the family!

I absolutely love this place!! I have been here twice. Once for a romantic weekend away and once with family. It’s all-inclusive so the food is included (not alcohol). The food is delicious and plentiful. Plenty of activities to keep you occupied or just relax. My favourite was the steam room. So relaxing. Unfortunately both times were during Covid so we couldn’t use the spa. A massage would have been great. The staff very friendly. I would love to try a summer vacation as both times were in the fall. Summer activities look fantastic. And the price is very reasonable.

Kids loved it. Their favourite spot was Mary Lou's. They enjoyed both the Animal and Magician shows there. Got in snow shoeing and sledding. Dining was top notch like always. We stayed in the Fireside rooms this time for the extra washroom having 2 girls we needed that. Bought the bread to bring home on the last day before check out as usual it did not make it home should have ordered 2 dozen. Already booked for Labour Day weekend. See you again soon Fern Resort.

Lots of activities/entertainment, good food and nice room, even if the buildings could use some maintenance. Stayed Thursday to Sunday. No planned activity on Thursday but after checking in and diner, nice to relax playing pool and ping pong, glad we added the extra night. The planned entertainment over the rest of the weekend was funny and engaging - music, trivia, history treks, water painting, tastings (Thornbury & Colio) and the cutter ride; highly recommend participating in the events, staff were great. Not experienced cross country skiers or snow shoe-ers but with the equipment available, we gave it a go and filled a couple of hours each day with the experience; also did some sudo-curling on the lake, an experience onto itself. Every breakfast, lunch and dinner was fresh, hot and yummy - assigned table for the stay made it easy to sit down for every meal. The room was clean and comfortable - not overly updated but we weren’t there to stay in our room. Yes, the buildings were dated (and no elevator) but staff, food and activities were great. The weather prohibited the skating trail from being opened, which was a bummer but out of their control. Would visit again, nice local spot.

We went with two other families with kids in their early twenties for the mid-week package of two nights. The activity director was amazing (Matt). We were able to do all of the activities. It's a great winter outdoor place. The rooms in the main hotel are spacious and spotless. The servers in the dining room are super attentive. The menu choices are varied. Our group loved all the pasta choices. Amazing burgers. The steak had to be Sent back for being undercooked but it was taken care of with wine removed off the bill for the inconvenience. The steak, when it came back, was mouth-watering. The desserts are out of this world. You definitely get bang for your buck here. This place has the best customer service of any place we have ever stayed.

At first when my wife told me she wanted to book a vacation here with some friends I was not sold. But I got a surprise when we arrived. It was actually better then I expected. Kids had a great time with there friends and enjoyed all the facilities over the Labour Day weekend. I even had a round of golf with some friends. Only thing that I might suggest is working on getting orders correct and speeding up meal service in the dining room a bit as it was slower then expected. We normally arrived right at open and it would take 45min to an hr to get all our food out and some meals were missed and had to be reordered. Aside from that we had not complaints. We were in a cottage by the main pool area and it was great. The view across the lake from the back deck was amazing.

Absolutely one of the best family holidays we have taken. The children were entertained for hours on end, made lots of new friends, and there was plenty for adults to do too (axe throwing, anyone?!). The food offered was a good range to cater for all tastes, with the breakfasts and lunchtime poolside BBQ the highlights. My only criticism here is that the kids' menu (always a challenge) was the same every day, but I realised that if you wanted to ask for something else (e.g. Pasta and cheese), you should just ask and they will try to accommodate you. Also, adult dinners could do with a few more veggies on the side, although, again, I probably could have asked for more! The facilities offer a wide range of activities which you can either do at organised times, or to fit in with your own timings. We did the fishing trip as a paid for extra and my son loved it. Don't expect luxury accommodation as you'll hardly be in your room, but sitting on the deck with a lakeside view of the sunset or by the firepit is priceless. The rooms are cleaned every day though, even if they could use a spot of updating. A small fridge is provided to keep drinks cold or snacks etc. This resort is not all inclusive in the common understanding of the word - alcoholic and specialty drinks are not included, and be prepared to bring cash for tips which can add a bit to your bill. The staff earn every penny though, but it was not something we had planned for. Evening entertainment is not something we had accounted for either, but there is something on every night to cater for most tastes Most of the guests are returning visitors and it's not a surprise why.
