I had stayed at Fern on business many times in the past in the 1980's on business. At that time it was a great place to stay. I attended a business reunion on November 1st and i must say it was disappointing. The price was very high for a one night stay. The biggest issue i had though was my shower/tub. By the time i finished my shower the morning i was leaving i was standing in approx. 3 inches of water. Two hours later when i was checking out none of the water had drained. I told staff at front desk and they did not offer any compensation, just a sorry sir.

I did not participate in any of the resort amenities, so I am reviewing based on the room itself. The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything seemed clean. The bed was okay, but not great. I did walk around the resort and some things look somewhat ‘tired’ and in need of updating, but the scenery is pretty. The pool area looks nice and the view of the water is quite nice.

Our family we are foodies so the only reason why we chose to visit this place to celebrate a birthday was because of the great reviews regarding their food. Well those reviews must have been written by the resort itself because the food quality was below average. The steak was flavourful but not chewable and the veggies were uncooked both cauliflower and green beans. My husband had ordered the lemon chicken but he said it was dry. Dessert was small and tasteless. The biggest disappointment was the fruit bowl I ordered for breakfast. The fruit was stale and sour and even the colour was brownish. As for it being all inclusive the fridge in the room was empty not even bottles of water. I went to the reception and they told me we had to pay for water bottles! There was a water refill station but for that you needed your own bottle which we did not bring thinking we were going to an all inclusive. The young woman at the reception was not friendly or helpful. She would not open her mouth completely to answer our questions as if she was bored or something. PROS - activities (bingo, trivia), skating, clean rooms. CONS - checkin reception, food below average, all inclusive status not justified by the high cost We might return here if they improve their food quality.

We had an awesome weekend at Fern Resort. Our first time back in 9 years and wow it is better than ever. The room and staff and food and everything was so good. We went snow shoeing, X country skiing, skating, horse and cutter sled ride We went on the 1.5 km skating trail through the woods that they light up at night. So much fun Great entertainment, art classes, spa etc We hit the hot tub. The food is incredible. Great kid’s programs so mom and dad can do their own thing. Perfect for March Break. Even if only one of you could get the kids a way for a few days, it's perfect. And have a break yourself. The best part for this mom and dad....No cooking and no cleaning. Just fun and R&R

We are here for Family Day weekend, we leave tomorrow. I have my 3 children and their spouses here and 5 grandkids also. It has been the most wonderful weekend. Watching our grandkids having such an amazing time with big smiles on their faces was perfect. Our adult kids had a wonderful time as well. So much to do for all ages. Thank you Fern!!

They work hard to look after you. As a retired older couple we appreciated the dining area where there were no little kids - that noise and disruption was in another room. (We will not comment on the behavior of some other people's children!) The serving staff were pleasant and efficient. Surprisingly for an all-inclusive resort, the quality of the wide choice of meals ranged from very good to excellent, including the best omelet I have ever had. There were a lot of activities and shows, and a friendly staff member was always close at hand. Note that there are no elevators - those with mobility issues would have difficulties. The spa for a massage was great. Our two complaints were relatively, minor. First we were surprised at the behavior (bouncing pool balls anyone?) allowed at the rather dirty and poorly kept pool tables. Second, we had trouble trying to watch a movie - and found that the TV remote in our room was for a different system. The very efficient service man solved that problem. Bottom line, we would consider returning!

Everything is so good there you can always have activities to do but also that is a game room what is very fun it has ping pong arcades pool/ pool table but also I did not have a great time there because there was this one person who is rude he didn't even say hi he looked so mad but last last year since 2025 but I've been here last year too I don't think that person was a very nice one so he also told my son that nobody cares about his name and a lot of rude things but I'm not going to describe them I think he can't be a great person because last last year he was so nice but he was rude last year [and don't forget my review is from 2025] and possibly 2024 and Mark the owner of the place was there but I think he's just a good guy UN like that other guy he had a microphone and he was doing the stuff and he is a staff he was explaining songs they do every year but I don't think he should be rude to my son but I would say it's still a good place to visit and have a great time on Christmas/ winter.

We had an amazing Christmas celebration at Fern Resort. The kids loved the entertainment and all the activities offered. The adults appreciated the quiet time, the food was great and we felt very welcomed. We will definitely return! Loved it!

How is it possible for Tripadvisor to recommend this Resort when you are unable to book online and then suggest that you contact Fern directly without publishing a phone number. Unsolicited destination with no genuine prospects to offer!!! Totally loosing confidence with Tripadvisor.

The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. The nature around it is beautiful. We have come here many times and were always pleased. The food is generally good, and plentiful. I would recommend the resort to anyone wishing to be in a natural surrounding with comfortable accomodations.

Every year, my friends and I go to the FERN. It’s pretty good actually. The only drawback I have is in the hotel rooms I was cool. You can light a fire in the fireplace in the fire side in, but that doesn’t last forever. I don’t know it’s why it’s always cool in here. I wish it was better.. However, the meals are incredible. You get a lot of food, the prices are reasonable it’s well worth it to try it out ..

This is our 6th company event at Fern. The Fern staff are always great in helping us prepare and ensuring our last minute needs are met! Our employees really look forward to coming back to "Camp Axsium" held at Fern.

As always our visit to Fern was too notch. Kids had a lot of fun. We learned how to play Pickle Ball as a family with Mike. My oldest decided she wants to learn and play more tennis now after taking a class as well. Nightly entertainment was great. Dining was top notch. Thanks again. We will be back in Jan.

We just returned home after spending 4 days and 3 nights at Fern resort with our 4 1/2 year old granddaughter. The place is chock full of activities for all ages. It is an all inclusive and the food was excellent and plentiful. There are 2 outdoor and 1 indoor pools. We stayed in the Main Inn. Please note that there are no elevators, however, the staff is very accommodating to help you take your luggage upstairs. Overall, the grounds are lovely and it is situated on a beautiful lake. Some of the areas could use some TLC because the facility is 125 years old, for example the paint on our balcony was chipping badly. The place is fairly expensive, so a large scale renovation program to improve the facilities is necessary. The staff is Fern’s saving grace. The staff is attentive, happy and made the visit worthwhile.
