Hotel management was Extremely in helpful. I made a mistake in booking, 3rd party booking was helpful to fix the mistake. Management and front desk at Hotel Alex Johnson was the most unhelpful, and honestly rude. At 1 point over the phone I asked to talk to a manager, and was told “no” they are pretty busy… Will never go back.

The hotel itself was great. Great location and ton happening nearby. The hotel staff, especially Patrick and Cynthia were not well versed in hospitality. Only one valet and and he was running around like crazy because there's no parking. Patrick was not helpful explaining the parking situation which took over an hour for us to get settled in because we were traveling with a uhaul and we had to park at an off site that only the valet could give us access too.

Hotel Alex Johnson is a historic hotel built in the 1930's and so the rooms are on the smaller side and the elevator a little cramped, but it is a very clean property and everyone--from the valet to the waitress at the onsite Starbucks--was so friendly and accommodating.

Iron Horse Inn is a classic Deadwood Hotel...rustic, cowboy charm with excellent downtown location.
Sheri at front desk is forever helpful and there is a great little breakfast spot, The Wooden Nickel.

The carpet needs cleaning. And the room I had, the bathroom was way too small. And I do not like to have to utilize the valet parking. The hotel should offer something to offset the cost of the parking.
