Great location, however some minor issues with our stay. Our room was quite noisy and we could hear other guests from our room at night. Water pressure in the shower was very low and the hair dryer was broken. Wasn’t the worst experience just not worth the money we paid.

What an absolutely smashing stay at The Old Borough Arms. Comfortable, quaint and frankly just lovely. Breakfast was delicious, ambience was cosy and Sarah and staff could not do enough. And an added bonus with the Mermaid Street Cafe directly below you get 10% off their delicious ice creams... Mint Croc for the win! Highly recommend and in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger ~ We will be back! xxx

Les propriétaires sont adorables et très arrangeants. Initialement nous ne devions rester que 2 nuits dans l'hôtel mais nous avons été si bien que nous sommes restés une 3eme nuit. Nous avons logé dans la suite qui est exceptionnelle. Je recommande vivement. (et les petits déjeuners sont typiques et délicieux!) The owners are so sweet and very accommodating. Initially we had to stay 2 nights in the hotel but we were so comfortable that we stayed a 3rd night. We stayed in the suite which was just perfect. I highly recommend. (and the breakfasts are typical and so delicious!).

Une très belle étape à Rye. Accueil chaleureux, chambre très confortable, un petit déjeuner anglais et gourmand dans un lieu super agréable. Et on est dans Rye au pied de la Mermaid street. Parking public payant à proximité et de belles randonnées à faire vers la mer également en plus de visiter la ville, le tout au départ de l'auberge.

I booked up for a couples weekend away and decided to stay here, with reading the reviews we thought we would try it. When we arrived on the Saturday afternoon, we were greeted with open arms by Sarah ( the owner ) and her colleague showed us to our room downstairs, the room was absolutely beautiful with their own stamp on it, the only thing was that our night sleep would be disturbed by a squeaky bed which by a simple move, When I went to speak to Sarah, they were straight on it and with their tool box, tried to fix it, but unable too, instead gave us a free upgrade to the suite upstairs ( top floor ) and it was absolutely amazing, spacious for a family and the decor was so homely. Next day we had breakfast, and I had a full English and partner had a scrambled eggs with mushrooms, tasted out of this well. The whole team were amazing, brilliant, kind, and so worth the visit to anyone who stays in Rye. Thank you John and Carri - Ann

Lovely place to stay. The lady who greeted was very friendly. Room was big and the bed was very comfortable. It took a while for room to heat up as I hadn’t realised all the thermostats were turned off. I had a bit of disturbed sleep as I stayed when it was very heavy rain/ windy so the windows were rattling (understandable as it’s an old building). I would recommend staying here as it’s very affordable.

Whilst the establishment overall looked fine, and may well deserve it's good reviews if you are staying on upper floors, my particular room on the ground floor, overlooking carport/ bins was not great. It was clean, but at the end of a dark, damp corridor. I wasn't shown to room, didn't find light switch initially (in common with 2 other guests I met) and nearly fell down the steps first time. Whilst the room didn't smell quite a bad as the hall, there was a damp- smelling bathroom. I heard scratching noises at night- disconcerting! The furniture was fine, but overall paintwork etc a bit tired and needed refresh. The kettle lead was very short, and so difficult to balance on table without being pulled down by extension. I think this particular room should not be let out at least until the damp smell is sorted out. Sadly disappointing.

Eventually found somewhere that serves breakfast before 10am in Rye (and doesn’t stop doing so at 9.30 like a nearby establishment). Sat outside on a sunny morning and had a lovely, freshly cooked breakfast. Bit weird that they wanted, and did, serve the coffees in takeaway coups when we where having a sit down meal crockery and metal cutlery otherwise a good experience.
