We were spending the night in St. Joseph and thought we would give this place a try. It’s in a convenient area, as it’s within walking distance of a large outdoor shopping center with many food and shopping options, as well as a movie theater. You can also get a 10% discount at the 54th Street Restaurant & Bar. There’s a drive-thru coffee place next door as well if you rather have an espresso drink versus the free coffee at the hotel. For the hotel itself, when I was booking rooms, I noticed I could upgrade to a suite for less than $20 so figured I would treat ourselves. I guess I should have known it was too good to be true. While our room was a little bigger than a standard room and it had an extra couch, but that was it. I would have expected more like what I’ve seen in other hotels, such as at least an additional TV or a wall to separate the space. We went to the pool and while it’s fine, it wasn’t that big and there was no whirlpool. The breakfast area was also unique as while it was the regular Holiday Inn fare (with the delicious cinnamon rolls), they used actual plates and silverware. While I’m sure that cuts down on waste, one disappointing thing is I didn’t see any recycling bins anywhere in our room or around the hotel. If back in the area, would come back but I would just book a regular room.
