2 friends stayed here at my expense very recently, and while the accommodations were excellent, our experience in the hotel's restaurant was less than stellar. At first, all was fine with very polite and courteous staff. But a meltdown in the kitchen forced us to wait over an hour for undercooked food, which was inedible. No communication to keep us posted, no checking on the table. My friends replied later that they did not wish to return, unfortunately.

The White Hart is the epitome of an authentic and luxurious New England inn. The refurbishment ten years ago brought it back to its 1806 lustre. The public rooms are warm and charming and the guest rooms are beautifully decorated (we recommend Suite 8). The food is excellent and lunch on the porch is a treat. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Perfect spot to stay for events at Lime Rock Park. We give this our highest recommendation for comfort and quality.

Beautiful, traditional country hotel with spacious/clean/classic rooms, delicious food in their Tap Room, and impeccable service. What a great change from the commercial chain hotel/motels! A special perk for over night guests was the “Provisions” breakfast, where you can order anything on the menu, complimentary with your room. Have two or even three cappuccinos! :). Front porch is available for breakfast dining, and back porch for dinner. Very close to Lime Rock (a beautiful 10 minute drive through some of the most gorgeous countryside in Connecticut). All in all, an extremely enjoyable stay, with no complaints! It’s a great place to enjoy a quintessential New England weekend, but so close and accessible to NYC/Hartford given its location in Northwestern CT.

One of the worst hotel experiences of my life. Very old rooms, air conditioner that is as loud as a rocket ship, dingy. We stayed in the Countryside building at the inn, maybe the other buildings are better, but our building was terrible. Also, there was a wedding going on at hotel with music blasting till 10 pm (hotel never notified this was happening us when we booked). We have little kids and this kept them up. Even worse though, what felt like 50 wedding guests were hanging out loudly in the parking lot in front of rooms till 2:30 am. We were up all night. It was terrible. The people working there are very nice, but the hotel is really bad. Horrible experience.

This is a review of the restaurant only. My wife and I have dined at The White Hart three or four times over the last couple of years and the experience just gets better and better. Last night, we sat in the taproom, as the lucky guests of friends. Every dish showed an exemplary combination of sound, exciting conception and flawless technique. I am a French-trained chef, and I can assure you there is no better cook anywhere in the area. This gentleman deserves much more recognition, and all of his loyal following, among which we number ourselves and other friends. The service and ambiance are equally topnotch, they make great cocktails, and choose excellent wine. The setting is beautiful. What more could you ask for?
