Hyatt Place SLC Downtown Gateway

The biggest disappointment of our stay was the food. The hotel's website claimed that it had a restaurant, I even called the hotel to confirm before I decided to book this place but when we arrived, we discovered that it was more like a limited-service food service. The only options were pre-made sandwiches, salads, and snacks. We were hoping to have a more substantial meal, so we ended up ordering door dash as all the restaurants were closed due to the holiday. Another concern was the hotel's security. While we were having dinner in the lobby, two suspicious-looking men walked through the door. The receptionist immediately went and started closing the blinds, and she then called security. The security guard arrived and escorted the men out of the hotel. He then checked the entire floor to make sure that no one else was unauthorized. This incident made us feel uneasy for the rest of our stay.

If I was attending an Utah Jazz game, this would be the place to stay. It’s located right beside the Delta Center. However, in my case I was attending a conference at the convention center. Looking at a map suggests that convention center is right there but in reality, the convention was located on the other side and therefore required me to walk all the way around the building. A nuisance. Being close to the Delta Center meant that I could hear the transit authority trains clanging at midnight and 6 am and enjoy the Travis Scott fans whooping it up on Wednesday night. Not so much fun when trying to sleep with earplugs. Oddly, one would think there would be a lot of restaurants in the area. Nope. Disappointingly I found the area to be socially vacant with the odd homeless person trying to nap. The hotel was fine. The bed was comfortable. The staff were accommodating.

Havregrøden var ikke grød men havregryn med varmt vand over. Der bliver ikke gjort rent på værelset med mindre du anmoder om det.

When we checked in the poor front desk lady was slammed. She was trying to deal with people that wanted to take bikes into the hotel. Because it was after 9pm I stood in the foyer for 5 minutes not knowing what to do because all it said was to use your room key. We hadn’t checked in so we had no key. While there for 2 days our room was not cleaned and we didn’t have fresh towels and there were six of us and we were two towels short. The first night we arrived someone spilled chips in the hallway and they were still there the next day. The noise in the hotel was bad too. Sirens, cars and people shouting it was hard to sleep.

The hotel is under renovations. No pool, no hot tub. Tons of construction. Nothing about this listed on *******. Ended up having. To find a new hotel.

I stayed a long weekend there and it worked out very well for my son and DIL to visit and also to watch my Seminoles win their conference championship!

Older tvs, linens and beds weren’t very comfortable. Room was clean and staff was nice. Parking onsite was very limited. Walkable to The Gateway.

Great location for convenience, only downside is the noise from the train yard on one side and a very busy street night life on the other.
