Beautiful boutique hotel in downtown San Francisco with very clean and spacious rooms .

Staff was friendly and helpful, especially the bellman. But not someplace I will stay again. The availability of food and beverage service was rough (waited too long, and gave up both times I tried). The extremely small sink/mirror area in the bathrooms made it extremely difficult for two people to get ready. The location is good for seeing a game at Oracle park and shopping at Union Square. Hotel charges for early check-in, even when rooms are available - I find this to be a turn off... Resort fee of $50 per day also seemed excessive, this hotel was far from a "resort". Overall it wasn't a bad experience, but wished I had paid a bit more to stay someplace a bit more "luxury" (and perhaps less "commercial".

We arrived at the hotel, nowhere to park or pull in. We were stuck on the main road and getting honked at by other cars, which was stressful. My wife needed to go out and get someone to valet park our car. After the staff told us to turn into a small one-way alley, there was still nowhere to stop, and we risked making a large loop that could take another 15+ minutes. Finally, we found a place to stop and had to walk back 300+ (with our bags) just to return to the front entrance. After telling the hotel staff about this issue, they did not seem to care, only emphasizing the "valet parking services" is $80/day. All said and done, it took us 30+ minutes to park with valet and check-in, and delayed our dinner reservations.

Unfortunately, my stay at The Clancy was nothing more than a 3-star experience at best. The room was not thoroughly cleaned upon arrival (liquid spill stains on the nightstand, dirty fridge, etc.); there was limited closet space to hang up clothes (you'll need to move the ironing board and suitcase stand out of the way first), the light in the closet kept turning on throughout the day and evening (there are no doors to close off the "closet" and when I raised this with the front desk they did nothing to address this issue the first time, and the second time only 1000 Marriott rewards points were offered), no room service, no mini bar, and a bed so old that it permanently tilts to one side. Also, late checkout costs $15 per hour after 11 am (or 2 pm for Gold members). Not at all recommended.

The parking was $ 80. That is not acceptable. It is very high. The taxes are becoming outrageous. Now you have added a $ 50 destination charge which we used but your hotel breakfast prices are ridiculous. $6 for a Perrier? Ultimately the hotel is way too expensive. Took San Francisco off our list of places to revisit.
