Points forts • Air climatisé • Grande chambre avec lits confortables • Petit-déjeuner disponible sur place, mais pas inclus avec la chambre • Propre • Belle piscine avec bel environnement, j’ai vu des toucans :) Points à considérer • Emplacement loin de la ville de la Fortuna, besoin de prendre un taxi/ uber pour s’y rendre

This was a fantastic trip for us. Lavas Hotel, along with Luis and Family were the perfect hosts to experience La Fortuna. It was great not having to worry about planning or booking other outside excursions and having a delicious breakfast ready every morning. Would definitely recommend for a way to not have to worry about booking excursions and transportation, but still truly experience Costa Rican culture.

Luis and Sofie are great host. Super friendly and accommodating. The hotel is about 6 kilometers from La Fortuna downtown, easy to organize transport. Very nice property surrounded by nature. If you are lucky you can see toucans, macaws and many other birds. Rooms are nice and clean. Highly recommended.

I stayed at Hotel Lavas del Arenal as part of a tour with Intrepid. Personally I wasn’t keen on the location - I would have preferred to have stayed more centrally so I could enjoy exploring the many shops and restaurants there. The hotel is a good 15 minute drive from La Fortuna and not walkable, so using taxis are essential. Having said that I did enjoy my one night stay here. My room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. The AC worked well, and the grounds of the hotel were lovely. There is a swimming pool with sun loungers, and hammocks available. I paid to have breakfast at the hotel as there are no other options in the area - which was substantial and adequate. In a nutshell I did like this hotel, but based on the remote location it is not somewhere I would have chosen and booked myself.

Luis is the manager of this hotel and the man never stops moving! He was so accommodating it was almost unbelievable. Sophia takes care of the cooking and cleaning and she is so talented. The food at the restaurant is delicious and we will surely miss it. The hotel itself is simple, but quiet and incredibly clean. The beds and pillows are on the firm side, but even though we are picky about our sleep, this was not an issue at all and worked out just fine. And the most amazing thing was that our laundry was cleaned and folded for us! What a treat! The hotel is not located downtown, so you will need an uber to town, which was simple. But the perk of being outside of town is the privacy. The only noise we had was cicadas and howler monkeys from the rainforest in the backyard. Most evenings after our daily tours, my husband and I had the pool to ourselves, and it was so peaceful. Also, if you’re missing your pet from home, Rocky (the hotel mascot pup) will come to fill that hole in your heart and give you some love! We truly enjoyed our stay, thank you!

Simplistic room but had air con and a powerful shower. Both important to me especially in such humid environment. The grounds were really well kept and lovely inviting pool. Not centrally located..need.to grab a taxi for town. Good breakfast.

Property grounds were nice. Very green. Good bird watching. Hotel room was average, but clean. Beds were fine. Not the quietest hotel, but OK overall. Staff was very kind. Breakfast made on site, nothing exceptional though. Didn't try the pool but it looked clean and refreshing.

Luis & family were most hospitable- the entire adventure was very organized! Communication was impeccable! The breakfast served was delicious, filling & healthy. The grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. Only a short 3 mile drive to La Fortuna. The room was very clean and well-stocked. We hope to return again!

Quiet and in the middle of rain forest beauty.... Luis and Sophia were our hosts and they are the friendliest loveliest people. Daily laundry service and home-cooked restaurant 100ft from the rooms. Wildlife outside your windows. 5 star experience.

I was with my family on a 10-day vacation during the Dec 2023 holidays and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Luis and Sophia were exceptional hosts, and everything was meticulously organized by them. We never felt away from home. The kids loved it. Thanks, Luis, for making this one of the best vacations for our family.

Our stay at Lavas Del Arenal was amazing. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast each morning was very good, especially the fruit! Luis was a very good host, helping us with our planned excursions. He was very responsive via WhatsApp if we had any questions. He also took our group into La Fortuna our first night there and provided restaurant recommendations, things to see and do, and where to get a taxi back to the hotel. Would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed 8 nights here and really enjoyed ourselves. Luis did a fantastic job planning all our excursions. Every morning we had breakfast made by Sophia and it was delicious. She really went above and beyond. Our room was cleaned spotless everyday. What stuck out the most to us was the hospitality. We felt so welcomed and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back to to Hotel Lavas del Arenal and recommending it to all of our friends and family.

We stayed for four nights at Hotel Lavas del Arenal and I was pleased with the service and hospitality. The hotel is taken care of by a wonderful husband and wife, who is an amazing cook. I always looked forward to breakfast before our adventures began which Luis was so kind to arrange for us. Luis was always there to answer any questions or concerns and made us feel right at home. I honestly can't express how happy we were with the stay especially with it being our first time in Costa Rica. Oh, there is a little fridge in the room so feel free to visit a grocery store and stock up on snacks/drinks for those moments by the pool.

Beautiful hotel with stunning landscaping. Friendly staff with delicious breakfast options. Plenty of opportunities to see birds and enjoy the environment. Very peaceful surroundings. The rooms are comfortable with large beds and air conditioning. I highly recommend this hotel.

My experience was nothing short of AMAZING with this hotel and all of it's wonderful staff! My friends and I got an adventure trip Groupon and it was hands down the best decision we could have made. The hotel itself isn't luxurious, I would compare it to a Motel 6 but it's clean and comfy. It also has air conditioner, wifi, and netflix. Not that you're going to spend a ton of time there but it's available if you like. I'm giving this place 5 stars because of Luis, Mario, and the kitchen staff. Just to show you all how FANTASTIC they are, Luis drove over 2 hours to pick us up/drop us off from San Jose Airport FOUR times! He also helped organize our entire trip. He recommended the most amazing hot springs location, the best white water rafting company, zip lining, ATV, and horseback riding. He even reached out to a nature walk specialist and organized a private nightwalk tour! The kitchen staff were just as kind and detailed. Even when the kitchen was closed they still cut some fruit up for me to snack on. Any other hotel would have charged extra or refused but NOT HERE! I could not have asked for a better trip and I am so grateful to them for taking such good care of us.
