Tons of character in this ”Oldest hotel in Iceland”. Hotel dates back to the 1880's. Exposed old beams and a charming old feel along with wonderful husband and wife innkeepers made for a nice overnight stay on our ring road trip. Not much going on in this town, but good place to view northern lights. Due to the shortage of wood back in the day this building was disassembled and rebuilt multiple times before settling here. It has a cozy bygone old US west type feel with smaller rooms having obviously old wooden beams. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Spoke at length with both husband and wife owners about the interesting history of the place. They made great suggestions and even made phone calls to set up future lodging for our journey. Not super fancy but highly recommend.
