The only advantage of this hotel is its central location, close to the Bund and Nanjing Road. Of course, if you're a tourist visiting Shanghai and want to explore the famous city center, this hotel is very conveniently located. But that's where all its positive features end.
The hotel itself is on the 12th floor of an old building. The rooms are very small, very old, and the plumbing is very outdated. I can say for sure that in the room I stayed in, the sink's corrugated pipe needs replacing (when you turn on the water, it all leaks onto the floor), and the shower cabin needs to be resealed because whenever the water is on, it leaks out due to poor sealing — the whole bathroom ends up flooded. That said, it didn't cause me much trouble since I didn't stay at the hotel to spend all my time in the bathroom. Haha.
The housekeeping is average. Not dirty, but not exactly clean either. And for some reason, the cleaners always came to tidy up the room exactly when I was inside. Usually hotel cleaning happens in the morning, but at this place it was always around 5 PM. Still, that didn't bother me much either, because I'm not messy enough to need daily cleaning.
What bothers me far more is the pricing of this hotel — though perhaps it shouldn't be called a hotel, but a run-down hostel. The room rate is 750–850 yuan per night. Even for Shanghai, with its expensive land costs, this is overpriced. It feels like this hotel uses the HanTing brand name but has nothing to do with it, because the outdated condition and poor maintenance don't meet the average HanTing standard. I constantly travel on business to various cities across China and have stayed in hotels of all categories. But this hotel (or rather, hostel) in Shanghai is obviously very bad and not worth its price.
What do you think breakfast includes at a hotel costing 750–850 yuan per night? A buffet? Good coffee? Fresh fried eggs or an omelet? NOTHING! You'll get just one baozi, one mantou bun, a tea-boiled egg, and a glass of soy milk. Don't stuff yourself too much! This is a disgrace to the HanTing brand.
I understand that the management will reply to this review. They'll say they're ashamed, that they'll try harder, that they'll change. But those words don't interest me, because I will never stay at this hotel again — and I don't recommend other travelers stay here either. Even around the corner of this building, you'll find more comfortable hotels for the same price. Don't repeat my mistakes!
P.S. In the photo — that's the "breakfast" for a room costing 750–850 yuan per night!
