This hotel is a bit shabby but clean, safe, and overall quiet.
What really killed the 5-star rating was the Internet speed: "up to" 10mbps, shared between all stations on the network means that the hotel wi-fi was effectively useless.
The gym was adequate but the equipment old and deteriorated: the one (of two) treadmills that worked had a missing "increase speed button" and was difficult to operate, and the battery reserve on the elliptical was dead, so the machine reset if you stopped moving for an instant or reversed stride direction.
The rooms were clean, and amenities were as advertised. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was barely adequate, with one super old, crusty bottle of CoffeeMate serving as the sole source of creamer for the tepid coffee. Tea offerings were black Lipton only, and the choices were limited to one type of bagel (everything), one type of muffin (prepackaged vending-machine style blueberry muffins), Yoplait yogurts, cheap granola bars, and apples wrapped (weirdly) in plastic. There was also cereal, but the one source of milk was a small glass cooler that was left unrefrigerated on the counter for multiple days before being switched out, so we passed on that option.
This looked like an old, out-of-repair hotel that was being slowly revived, but it could also have been corporate cost-cutting. This hotel is on its way to either a 2-star or a 5-star rating, depending on whether the owners are trying to revive it, or bleed it dry.
