Told when we arrived we had to be moved to a twin room as the shower was broken in our planned room.

On arrival we were told it was the last night before closing and being taken over by new management so no food was being served. After travelling over 200 miles this was an issue as the staff did not know where to recommend. Was told there would be Karaoke later whilst the bar was drunk dry. Not something we were interested in but sadly we could hear songs being absolutely murdered by the drinkers till late. The bedroom was spotless and beds very comfortable which was the only positive thing about the place. Breakfast was continental but when we got downstairs there was no milk for cereals, no plates, no teaspoons, no yogurts, no bread for toast, instant coffee and no staff but a big sign on kitchen door banning guests from going in there. We had a quick cup of tea and went elsewhere for breakfast. Other guests had had to go out for breakfast for two days on the trot because of lack of food. They had taken full payment in February from us, but there was no communication about the fact that the place was closing which could have given us a chance to book elsewhere. Temporary staff could not give a damn as they were leaving once keys were handed over. I think new managers will have to work doubly hard to rectify what has been destroyed by staff recently. Sadly a terrible experience.

Room large, clean but tired but for price it was adequate. The full English breakfast is charged extra so you just get continental included, however it is the worst continental breakfast I have ever seen in all my years. I had to ask for plates and butter and was given ‘clover’. The clover tub was already being used my another table and the jam and Nutella were also in a dish or jar so it is a case of double dipping with other users!!! The apple juice had run out. It was very basic. The only positive was the seeded bread which was fresh but we didn’t eat any breakfast as it was overall appalling and just looked like nobody cared or gave a damn.

Very disappointed with our stay. The room was lovely and comfortable. We were not told when we arrived that there was no food thst evening. Only found out by a notice on the bar. We were assured that there would be breakfast but extra £8 for cooked, which we said we would have. We went down for breakfast at 9 o'clock and it was like the Marie Celest no sign of anyone. We waited 20 minutes and eventually another couple came looking for breakfast. Still no sign of anyone. There were some loves of bread next to a toaster and some cereal, no milk! Two sad looking Pain au chocolat were there. Couldn't find anything to drink. We left our keys on the bar and went to the town for breakfast. The other did the same. So upsetting as the inn is in a good location and has potential. We were recommended the Poachers Pocket for evening meal, which was excellent. We went back at 9..30 and found the bar closed and the place locked!

The hotel is on a main road right on a crossroads The room was clean fresh bedding bathroom adequate but tired, toilet brush had no handle! Only 'continental' breakfast included in price not english as advertised....this consisted of a few slices of bread, choice of rice krispies cornflakes or malties and some pre wrapped croissants and pain au chocolate, only coffee granules or teabags and when asked if there was any juice was presented with a 2 litre plastic container with a half pint tankard! Unable to get evening meal as no chef but told 'theres a fish and chips shop up the road!!!

A very warm welcome and staff were very polite. Seemingly not many staff on duty especially on the Sunday morning. The property could do with updating carpets and generally our bedroom was ok - very good size and bed comfy though the bedroom needed a bit of dusting and bathroom skylight window did not shut. I feel important to share our total disappointment on Breakfast! On arrival, we were told that though it says that breakfast is included, the info was incorrect. If we wanted a cooked breakfast that would be £12 per person but a Continental Breakfast was included in our booking - a notice was on the Reception Desk saying a Continental Breakfast was incl. In fact that isn’t true either; we were provided with and shared with all the other guests; two bagged loaves were on a shelf with a very small pot of butter and an even smaller pot of jam, a small toaster, on a table were a couple of cereal bowls (one dirty), and three packets of cereal! No plates. A table with small cups, a small bowl of coffee granules, tea bags and an urn. A lady buttering her toast agreed that ‘breakfast’ was poor and unappealing. We compared the situ to a tv prog! I can’t review the cooked breakfast - we didn’t order. We politely left after saying goodbye to the man in the kitchen!

OK very friendly staff and OK bar however lacking stock (we have just run out of that for two ciders) , the whole place is in need of a good referb and deep clean. It is looking very tired and a bit run down. We have an evening meal which was not good (again item on the menu out of stock excuse) , however breakfast was excellent. The up side is free parking.

On fairness, the pub had a limited menu as it was late afternoon on a Sunday.. we were only too glad to find somewhere that could accommodate us. The scampi, chips & peas was ok , not great- no salad garnish or lemon slice as stated on the menu. Green King chain typically

Stayed overnight here. Quiet and relaxing. Lovely breakfast. Shout out to Ethan who single handed ran everything and was still there at breakfast. Had a lovely evening meal in the bar.
