皇家格倫酒店(Royal Glen Hotel)

A charming hotel, steeped in history, provided the perfect setting for an 80th birthday celebration. All the staff were so very welcoming and made our stay very memorable. The service in the restaurant was first class and the chef too! We loved our stay and the location of the hotel was perfect!

This was our second visit to the Royal Glen and we stayed again in the Henry Suite, which overlooks the gardens, has a separate sitting room, bathroom with separate shower and bath and is in a quiet location. The food for dinner has plenty of choice including a vegetarian option. Cooked breakfasts again, include a vegetarian option. We loved swimming in the indoor pool before breakfast each morning. The staff are all great and helpful. The drawing room on the first floor is stunning with great views across the sea. The only thing which would have helped a little more, would be a few more shampoo & shower gels available at the beginning of the stay. Otherwise just perfect and quiet for us, as an older clientele. Thank you once again for a perfect stay.

I loved this hotel for its elegance of a bygone age and because its heart was in the right place .A great position with a small pool which was lovely pre breakfast . Service was lovely, the very kind Gaby tempting me to eat things .The Crab risotto was delicious .A very relaxed atmosphere .I arrived tense and disappointed because illness had forced us to cancel a holiday in Crete.I felt much better for feeling I had been looked after for a few days

We had an excellent one night stay in The Duchess suite. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The room was spacious and clean, breakfast delicious and location is great. The staff at breakfast were exceptionally kind and friendly to my young son, I couldn’t fault them or the food. The small pool was great (cold) and we were the only ones using it. Our only negatives were that the shower was not great (no pressure) but I’m assuming that is because of the age of the building and that the guests above us were extremely noisy and woke us multiple times throughout the night. We would definitely stay here again, requesting a top floor room if possible.

This is a tranquil place to stay, full of old fashion service. Our room was excellent, overlooking the rear gardens and quiet. Breakfast was very varied menu, and sure to please most people. Just a short walk to the seafront of the delightful seaside resort, again so different to other noisy seafronts. Plenty of good places to eat within short walking distance. Fully recommend The Royal Glen for a relaxing friendly stay.

A repeat visit…it’s like staying with relatives…who live in a Nat Trust house…it’s quirky and unique.if you prefer corporate sameness of rooms and service this isnt for you. It’s great to see family run establishments continuing. We found the food well cooked and tasty. Staff are happy to accommodate most reasonable requests. Room was clean and comfortable. Each time we visit some more updates have taken place …clearly they are making changes and updates as and when they can. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Building is really beautiful and hotel is very clean. Pool and gym area are both really clean too, pool towels are provided which is a really nice touch. Breakfast is small but yummy with options for vegetarians. Staff are on the whole very nice and can't do enough for you - particular shout out to Jim (I think) for being so lovely and polite and for helping us when we couldn't figure out how to work the TV in the room! There is WiFi, parking and the hotel is literally a minute's walk from the seafront. Would definitely recommend, would stay again!

Had a few days in Sidmouth and selected this hotel. Good location for town centre and beach. Very quirky layout with many steps up and down to get to the bedrooms. Car park layout clearly for when vehicles were smaller, but staff try to help and open up garden. Also nearby public parking available. Although didn't use them, nice to have swimming pool and gym available. Things were OK, but could be better, e.g. better quality loo paper; clear breakfast prices - nothing said about drinks and toast being additional cost. Pleasant staff; Henry did a sterling job filling in time showing us the layout of the building and some of its history whilst receptionist dealt with a long phone call.

As a single female traveller I was made to feel very welcome. I was able to access the on site car park and a lovely porter fetched my case from the car. There is a lift to the upper floors. My single room on the first floor wasn't pokey as some single rooms are as I have experienced in other hotels, and the bed was extremely comfy. Tea and coffee facilities in the room and a hairdryer. The en suite wasn't pokey either. The hotel was clean and all the staff were friendly. I only had breakfasts in the hotel but the staff worked so hard to ensure everything was right and the menu was varied and the food good. The pool was also very clean and a good size so I made full use of that. Personally I'd put a mirror in the ladies changing room. Pool towels are provided. The hotel is very near the sea front and from the drawing room windows on the first floor you can sit and see the sea. There are plenty of places to sit both indoors and out if sunny. The hotel is only 1/2 mile from the town so an easy walk to the shops,cinema etc. I had a lovely relaxing stay and would highly recommend.
