We stayed for Christmas for two nights in the lodges that are across the road from the main establishment. While the accommodations were clean and fine, I found myself continuously making excuses for the owners because it is a family-run business. But in the end, the owners are not MY family and I paid a lot of money for poor standards. We emailed several times prior to our arrival to inquire about local activities and were ignored. We arrived on Christmas Day and were confused about where to check in because the address sent us to a gas station/ convenience store that was closed. It would have been helpful if the owners sent detailed check-in information prior to arrival but information was generally withheld at Kierinki Village about all things. We had Christmas dinner at Kierinki Village as there are literally no other amenities for miles. For 45 Euro pp, it was not great. It was buffet style. The ham was cold, empty platters were not replenished, and there was no dessert. We asked about local activities when we arrived and the owner said she would tell us in the morning. We said that we definitely wanted to take the snowmobile tour with the owner. She said the 11 am morning tour was full the next day and she discouraged us from the 1:30 tour, so we said we would do the 11 am tour on the next available day and she agreed. By morning, the owner told me about local husky and reindeer excursions. However, by that point, those experiences were fully booked. Why did the owner not tell me the about the excursions day prior or when I emailed ahead? That next day felt wasted to me. On my final day, I confirmed three times with the owner my snowmobile tour. I woke up and arrived at the start time of breakfast by 8 am (breakfast was not ready until 8:25). I waited around the hotel for my 11 am snowmobile tour. I arrived, as told by 10:45 and then owner helped my family of four to suit up into the winter thermals provided by the hotel. Then another couple came and I was told there was no room for me and my family. Sorry. The owner said that they had a cancellation the day before and that I should have done it then. If I was a mind reader, I would have, but I was not told about their cancellation. Thus, I spent two days of my vacation wasted at Kierinki.
