布拉雪旅館(Brathay Lodge)

My elderly parents and I got stranded in the lakes last Saturday during the unexpectedly heavy snowfall. I booked the triple room on the top floor no 22 at Brathay Lodge Ambleside. We arrived at about 8.30pm to a friendly greeting. It was approx zero degrees outside or less with about eight inches of snowfall. Our room wasn’t overly warm on arrival but all the radiators were on so we weren’t too concerned until they went off at 11pm. With no heating on and no way of controlling it ourselves, the room temp quickly dropped and was freezing during the night. There was only one blanket in a triple room! The duvets were old, thin and not sufficient for winter in the Lake District. Reception is not manned during the night so we had no way of making contact with guest house staff. In the morning I complained to Carol but other than an insincere and defensive apology I was offered no recompense or assurance that this would not happen to other guests. The heating should be left on all night in winter! I was appalled and very disappointed that a four star guest house could not make that judgement for themselves. I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone especially not in winter.

This was a surprise weekend away for my partner for me to propose to her. I spent ages mulling over where to stay and I'm so glad I booked Brathay Lodge. We had a second floor room which was the superior deluxe room with views over the green and mountains in distance. It was a great room which was so much bigger than the average hotel room. It was very clean and we couldn't fault it. Breakfast is continental style and there was a huge amount to choose from and it was fresh and tasty. The staff were very helpful and always courteous. Location is great too and only a couple of mins walk away from the bars and restaurants in town. Thank you for helping me make my fiancee's weekend an amazing experience. We will definitely be booking again.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Ambleside. We stayed in room 3 next to the car park. Felt like a brand new room, huge bathroom, comfy beds. Continental breakfast was good, lots of choice. Parking was £12 but was on site so easier than walking to the main car park.

We were kindly granted a late check in due to the nature of our stay Room was nice and warm upon arrival at 1am and very very clean. Bedding was fresh and pillows nice and fluffy. Best nights sleep before an entire day of hiking ahead Continental breakfast did not disappoint either Carol is a great host and does a brilliant job keeping up standards

Lovely 1 night stay, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the lady on the front desk was lovely and very helpful, especially with my young daughter who she chatted to for ages. The location is great and central for everything you need. Breakfast is continental, my partner and daughter would have preferred a full English but was fine for me. All in all a great stay and will definitely book again for walks etc.

We booked as a last minute overnight stay. Really pleased we chose to stay here it’s a good location, lovely helpful staff (and owner was very friendly at breakfast) the room was very clean and there is no doubt we would stay again and we highly recommend the lodge.

B&B very clean & tastefully decorated. All the staff very friendly & helpful. Breakfast very enjoyable. Plentiful pastries, fruits, meats etc.. Car parking a plus. Perfectly placed for exploring Ambleside. Our 3rd visit & will definitely return
