Nette Gastgeberin mit wertvollen Tipps. Das Zimmer ist eher teuer (aber das sind die Preise von St. Andrews), war jedoch sauber und die Betten bequem. Leider gab es bei unserem Aufenthalt keine Möglichkeit, das Frühstück vor 9 Uhr einzunehmen. Aber wenn man wandern möchte, so wie wir, dann wäre es von Vorteil, wenn es eine Möglichkeit gäbe, früher zu frühstücken.

Never do business with Pam. My mom and I informed Pam at 8:36 am that we would be late for our 4:30 - 6:30 pm check in time due to a big bus tour we were on. We even made the effort to bring our suitcases on the bus so we could get off at Pitlochry and take a taxi to St. Andrews. Pam told us this time was not ideal, but she didn’t say no. When we got to Pitlochry we went into the hotel our driver recommended and had them call numerous taxi companies to take us to St. Andrews. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find anyone, so I also called four different companies, none of which could help us. With our bus leaving for Edinburgh in minutes, and worrying that we would be stuck in Pitlochry without a way to get to st. Andrews, we jumped back on our tour bus back to Edinburgh and sent Pam an email apologizing profusely. What she sent back is the email below, which completely took me aback. It was nasty and uncalled for. She told my mom not to come and that we were a no show even tho we told her that morning we weren’t going to make the check in time (and she never said no). We lost $600, which is a lot of money to us, and Pam is refusing to give it back. I strongly recommend finding somewhere else to stay in St. Andrews.

No12 Bed & Breakfast St. Andrews Just stay away…don’t ruin your trip of a lifetime. So my wife had planned my 65th birthday trip for more than two years. For over a year we had a room reserved, 1st night paid in advance, for three nights at 12 Bed and And Breakfast in St Andrews, Scotland. Our intention and travel plans were built around a flight from the USA to Dublin, Ireland on American Airlines departing on May 18th overnight with a May 19th morning arrival..a connection to Ryanair from Dublin to Edinburgh and then driving to St Andrews….and arriving about 3 pm on the 19th. Our plans were changed by a 6 hr delay by American and later a four hour delay by Ryanair …upshot was instead of arriving in Edinburgh around noon on the 19th we didn’t get there until after 6:30 pm….by the time we collected our bags and rental car we left Edinburgh for St Andrews about 7:45 PM and arrived at 13 Bed and Breakfast shortly after 9 PM. The owner prefers you arrive by 7 pm but says arrivals after 7 pm can be accommodated. That was our situation and she knew it in advance. The owner and my wife were in touch the whole time during our trip (through all the delays) even up to the point of letting her know we had landed and left the airport in Edinburgh and that were driving to 12 Bed and Breakfast. My wife then began using her phone for navigation to the address for the B&B. Upon arrival at the bed and breakfast we were met at the door by an outraged woman who said that because we didn’t arrive by 7pm she had “no showed” us and that we “are not welcome in her home” and wished us luck in finding another place to stay after 9:30 PM. She took obvious pleasure in putting us in the predicament of having to find another place to stay after the over 30 hr disaster trip of just trying to get to St Andrews. Anyway, long story short…..while she and my wife continued their discussion about the “no show” situation I was able to find another much much nicer place to stay without the punishment involved in dealing with this woman. For about the same price and closer to the golf course we were scheduled to play the next day. Just a further side note, our emails and her responses show that she knew when we got to Ireland. She knew we were going to be late arriving in Scotland and then driving to St Andrews. A couple of other notes: *Prior our departure from the USA she had asked us to change our travel dates …in place for more than a year.. so she could give our room to some other couple. *During the trip and delays she emailed us to say that our room had been changed from a room with a queen size bed to a room with two twin beds…..lol. *After she knew we had already started traveling on the road from Edinburgh to St Andrews she sent an email rather than call us saying we should just stay in Edinburgh….lol….. *She had our phone number and could have called us to let us know she was cancelling our reservation….and didn’t.
