Wingate by Wyndham Lafayette Airport

When we walked in the lobby door, we were bombarded with furniture. They were obviously remodeling, but it was not disclosed on their site when I chose the hotel. We had to maneuver the luggage cart around all of the debris. Carpet was replaced down the hallway, but was bare concrete by the elevators. The whole reason why I booked the Wyndam was for quality and the fact that it had a hot tub. No luck on the hot tub either. It was blocked off and full of construction materials as well. There were shipping containers behind the hotel that all of the furniture could have gone in besides in the middle of the lobby. I took a video, but it will not let me upload it. All in all, it would not have been an issue if it was listed as being remodeled and a discounted rate.

I was shocked at the overall condition of the hotel and the fact is was open. Major construction less than four doors down from my room. Loud construction crew and the banging starts before 9 am on a Saturday. I was really horrified and dismayed.

Convenient Hotel

It was average at best, and there were a couple of cleanliness issues. Not a bad experience, but not a great one either. Pretty mediocre.

The staff was aloof and distant. The ice machine on the 3rd floor was broken. The air-conditioning unit was falling apart. It was as if she was trying to give me the worst room they had. Will never stay there again and will not recommend to anyone

The hot tub was broken and has been broken for weeks. The receptionist Mrs Diamond said the repair people know about it and have been back and forth for weeks now. So i dont blame the staff at all for that. My son forgot his pillow and Mrs Diamond got the pillow out of our room after we checked out and saved it at the front deck until we were able to pick it up. She is extremely nice and we really appreciate her. She also got us extra blankets and brought them to our room the night before. The cook made awesome cookies that were amazing and left out at the front desk. The breakfast was also very good! The hotel staff were exceptional in my opinion. I definitely plan on staying there again. Just hope the hot tub will be repaired by then.

During this most recent stay I was put in a room where the flip guard on the door was broken, the smoke detector was hanging off of the ceiling, there were holes in the wall, and a small roach fell out of the bathroom vent. I haven’t had such a bad experience here before but even when I addressed these concerns (minus the roach because it was the last day) I wasn’t offered a new room or anything. There was also an event where someone came in during breakfast and argued with other occupants of the hotel which I feared would lead to a physical altercation. There was also an issue where I couldn’t turn off the light behind the television and watch my Roku without it disconnecting the HDMI port all together. I had to just watch the regular cable if I wanted the lights off. Overall, it just felt very unsafe and was inconvenient.

Room was clean and spacious. Had to ask for towels everyday from front desk. Could hear people talking in next room from inside my room.
