What a stunning place this is and the spa is probably the best I have ever experienced. The complimentary activities were an unexpected added bonus all hosted by knowledgable and entertaining staff. The food was top notch and when ill health meant I was unfortunately left on my own for part of our stay, the staff rallied around to make sure I was looked after. Their compassion and kindness shone through. Thank you to the whole team. We will definitely be back in order to finish celebrating our anniversary together and in style.

We stayed for three nights and only left the estate once on a walk to Masham. We spent time enjoying several walks in the grounds, relaxing in the spa (no treatments as we had not booked in advance and there were none available), and taking part in some of the interesting complimentary activities, such as the history tour and introduction to the birds of prey, as well as an afternoon tea and the Chefs table. This is a place you can visit for a few days and not step foot off of the estate. We had time to enjoy some of what the estate has to offer, there are lots of walks and places to explore. Our afternoon tea was a little disappointing as the Scones and some cakes were dry, the food at Chefs table was good although probably insufficient for some, and the wine pairings dissappointed as most were similar to the sample menu dispite being served with very different foods. We had one instance of poor service during a very busy breakfast but for the most part this was a very enjoyable break.

This was our second stay at this wonderful hotel and it didn't disappoint. The hotel offers so many options of enjoyable experiences. This time we dined in both restaurants, had a day in the Spa, did the complimentary wine tasting experience and finished off with laser clay shooting. All were superb!! We will definitely be returning😎

So disappointed in what used to be an amazing venue. The staff have really let it slip. We booked via a voucher for 2 nights. Breakfast day 1, was that slow we had to lean it or we would have been late for the shooting we had pre organised. 1.5 hours for 2 lots of kippers is a disgrace. Also the restaurant staff really didn’t seem to care. We ended up leaving. Yes it was busy on a Monday morning but surely an establishment of this calibre should be more organised and attentive. As the coffee was like warm. Anyway onto the next. Shooting at there partner site was amazing. Back to Swinton park. Spa was good great massage, but yet again service, service and service , ended up getting a sandwich which was ok, only 5 out of 10, but was hank by this point as remember no breakfast. Went to the Terrace restaurant at night was good, but weird. Don’t understand really the theme as most of the tapas style dishes just didn’t work together. Also there is no in between. Lee the mixologist was great and lovely old fashioned. Hamish the duty manager was lovely and apologetic. Did knows us the sanger off from the spa. We like to be fair and not complain. but I still think there’s a missing link here and needs some thought. Would have loved a bit of lion of venison and some little chippies. Would I come again. I’d have to have a serious think and I would come on a day when the main restaurant is open. Truly disappointed

Such a lovely overnight stay with my daughter on Friday. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and efficient. The food was beautiful in the Terrace, the service was excellent in both the Terrace and in Samuels the following morning, where we had the best breakfast. Would recommend (and have been recommending all weekend) to anyone who will listen! A little bit of peaceful heaven in Yorkshire.

Visited the Hotel over three nights taking breakfast and dinner on each day. Although we generally enjoyed our stay there were a number of incidents, itemised below, that caused concern. On arrival we found that the Bedale room was terribly hot and requested a fan from reception. Only after chasing this twice a fan was delivered over four hours later and with the comment that this was the last one at the hotel. We were surprised that given recent very hot weather that each room did not have a fan available! At the first Breakfast: Ordered poached eggs on toast Gluten Free. This arrived cold and was taken back with all cutlery and side plate. I later requested toast and emphasised that I have a requirement for “Gluten Free”. My husband ordered normal brown. On arrival I found that my side plate and knife was missing so my Husband had to go and ask for replacements. On delivery I asked which was the gluten free toast as it all was on the same rack and unclear. The waitress said that there was no gluten free toast there and said she would order some. On arrival a waitress simply brushed past dropping off the toast with the single ”Toast” and was gone. On reflection I note that we were asked several times prior to arrival about dietary issues and we registered our needs. At no time when we attended did any of the restaurants seem to have any dietary issues registered! On our final morning my husband had a serious fall in the shower requiring a visit to hospital. Reception did provide first aid dressings to me for his wound. They did ask about floor mats, we later found mats hidden behind robes that they leave behind the bathroom door! Despite writing to them subsequently we have had no reply !

I was recently a bridesmaid for my best friend’s wedding here at the deerhouse. I’m very sorry to say it was incredibly understaffed which left a lot of us waiting for food for a long time after other guests were served. We did watch a waiter drop a whole tray of cooked chicken so presume this may have been the reason for the hold up. Many of the drinks on the bar ran out leaving long periods without being able to get drinks. Bottles of wine that cost £50 at the hotel bar were now being charged at £75. It was a shame that we couldn’t hear the speeches half way down the room as the PA system provided wasn’t working. I was very sorry to hear from my friend that their wedding night hadn’t gone to plan either when her and the groom were driven to the hotel by a member of staff who had been drinking and was over the limit, and arrived to the turret suite to find two leaks through the ceiling. Disappointing for such a beautiful venue, and one I won’t be recommending.

Horrible experience with events planning. We had a wonderful time at the chef's tables a year ago and thought that Swinton could be a potential wedding venue. We arranged for a viewing via email in March and was told that 1 to 1.5 hour would be allocated to view the wedding side of the estate in June. Admittedly, we arrived for our 12 noon appointment 12 minutes late as we got lost and caught behind roadworks. Tanya arrived 10 mins later and we got berated for being late, allowing for only 10 minutes for our appointment as she had only allocated 30 mins for the viewing. A 30 min viewing is contrary to our prior email communication. We were made to feel like an inconvenience, and couldn't view how the estate (such as the deer house) could fit into our wedding. This is deeply disappointing, as we also postponed the initial viewing date to accommodate Swinton's schedule. It is a shame. Whilst it a lovely location, Swinton is no longer on our list due to the unprofessional and abrasive reception we experienced.
