Great location and very cute cottage, we really enjoyed our stay here. Kitchen well appointed and the star of the place is the fabulous restaurant. All 4 of us ate different dishes and each one was delicious, generous portions and staff were very friendly and helpful. Only negative is lack of air conditioning in the cottage and lack of fly screens-presumably due to the age of the building, having said that I would happily stay here again.

It was a last minute booking and they managed to squeeze us in, what a great find it was. Fabulous menu at affordable prices! Local wines on offer, and a wide variety in the menu. Highly recommend a visit to this restaurant if in the local Port Arthur area!

We met family here for dinner as they were staying here. The food was tasty with a good range to choose from and the staff were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. We would have loved to come back during the day to do the animals experiences for the kids but we simply ran out of time on our trip in the region.

I would travel far and wide for this breakfast! When travelling I always long for muesli and toast and they far exceeded my longing! I had been here before at various times of the day and always very happy with everything. The food is excellent. In the past we looked through the animal sanctuary and saw the most interesting and spectacular birds that we would never get to see in our lives. I would and do reccommend this place to everyone I know.

This was a great little find where we could lose ourselves for a couple of hours on a wet day. There is a farm with a variety of animals that you can feed, a very interesting little museum and a great restaurant and cafe. The coffee was so good, and the cheesy cauliflower tart I had was spectacular. Well done Rosedale on creating such a lovely place!

We were stuck for dinner after visiting Port Arthur- stepping up to the plate was Rosedale Homestead- to be honest pulling in we didn’t have the highest expectations, thinking we’d get pub fare. We were wrong/ the marinated mushrooms to start were delightful, the service was a lovely and homey, and it was crowded with couples, families, and what felt like where you’d take your parents when coming home. Highly recommend the scallops or the squid! Good portions and the taste competed with some of the best restaurants in Hobart. Sadly we were too full from dinner to have dessert but the crumble looked and sounded like a dream!

Arrived in our campervan expecting some sort of campground. We paid for a powered site and was told to park up next to a building and they’d throw a power cord through the window for us. Shower and toilet was unwelcoming and you had to pay $2 for a three minute shower! We paid $33.00 for the night which seems pretty costly for the most basic of stays. I didn’t mind however as I had read that all of their profit goes to feeding their animals. Most of the people there were friendly but one older gentleman just stared at us while he sat on his quad bike, it was like he had never seen people before. The most upsetting thing though was seeing the birds in tiny enclosures. It doesn’t matter if an animal welfare group has said the cages are adequate. The fact of the matter is these birds should be able to fly around their enclosure and that is not possible. It is also deceiving to use the word “sanctuary” which implies they have rescued the animals there. Nowhere on their website does it mention in any more detail how they are a sanctuary and it seems much more that they just keep animals in confinement and only get them out for entertainment purposes/money making opportunities.I sent a friendly email last week enquiring about the birds/their back story and have heard nothing since. I wanted to give them the opportunity to explain and ease my concerns but sadly nobody got back to me.

This restaurant was amazing. The food was delicious and the staff are very very friendly.😁 They gave us everything we needed and was really nice👍🏻. They assisted us and gave us everything we asked for! Definitely recommend.🤪
